Join both! I'd join PenFed first because the pull for membership can be used for multiple credit products (I used my membership pull to get three cards). NFCU will HP for membership and for every credit application after you become a member -- so get the credit pull from PenFed first. It doesn't hurt that PenFed is easier to join if you're not military.
I agree with flyin fico. Join both, your scores are plenty good to get solid prodicts. Treat them well and they will do the same to you.
I agree with joining both. If you join NFCU through the Navy League, that can also be used to join PenFed.
I joined both last month and have been happy with the two of them so far. Much easier and nicer to deal with than any bank I've ever used
I joined NFCU by joining the Navy League first. When joining PenFed, Navy League is also listed as one of the organizations you can be a member of to join PenFed.
For NFCU membership, they pulled TU for me (think this is normal) and PenFed will pull EQ (generate their own score with data)
approved for Navy for 1,700; PenFed approved me for two account, 5k and 6k each. My scores were a little higher when I joined PenFed
