Re: NFCU....apply now or wait?

Mrldp40, thank you. That's the type of information I'm seeking. Is TU what they mainly pull for membership and credit cards?

Re: NFCU....apply now or wait?

Is it recommended to stick with just the cap1 and keep UTL at 9% and below, or try to add another card to my profile? I only have one other card reporting on my TU and it's as an AU (0% UTL, goes unused each month). Thanks.

Re: NFCU....apply now or wait?

Its my understanding you need 3 accounts to optimize scoring.  Good luck!!

Amex Gold =Amex ED 20k = Amex BCP 14k = Amex SPG Lux 2k = Arrival 2k = Ring 14k = BOA 321 30k = BOA BBR 10k = CSR 25k = Freedom 10k = Citi Simplicity 9k = Citi DC 5k = Citi DP 3k = DCVR IT 16k = DCVR IT(2) 10k = CAP1 QS 15k = NFCU CR24k/AE25k/CLOC 15k = BBVA 14k = Wells Plat. 5k = (2) US Bank Cash+ 13k, 18k = PenFed 17k

FICO scores TU 764 EX 739 EQ 745

Re: NFCU....apply now or wait?

And I just noticed this ...

"As far as cap1 goes, i was approved for an unsecured platinum with them in April . I was pleasantly surprised. I plan to use it each month, keep UTL under 9%, and PIF each month. I'd like to add nfcu, just not sure I'd get accepted."

You dont have to use just 9% of your credit line each month.  The only time you need to worry about the percentage is when the statement cuts.  So use the heck out of your card and plan on paying it back before your cut date.

And as far as NFCU goes, you should go ahead and apply.

Amex Gold =Amex ED 20k = Amex BCP 14k = Amex SPG Lux 2k = Arrival 2k = Ring 14k = BOA 321 30k = BOA BBR 10k = CSR 25k = Freedom 10k = Citi Simplicity 9k = Citi DC 5k = Citi DP 3k = DCVR IT 16k = DCVR IT(2) 10k = CAP1 QS 15k = NFCU CR24k/AE25k/CLOC 15k = BBVA 14k = Wells Plat. 5k = (2) US Bank Cash+ 13k, 18k = PenFed 17k

FICO scores TU 764 EX 739 EQ 745

Re: NFCU....apply now or wait?

I just applied for my first NFCU CC today.  I was approved for $24,000 limit.  Before this, my highest limit CC was $2000 Secured Card.  They seem to weight credit utilization very highly and I am at about 7% utilization across all my credit cards.

Re: NFCU....apply now or wait?

Yes, they pull TU for Membership and for Credit Cards. They are all in different departments I was told by a Rep there and she said that they pull from different CB's. I just experienced this.
