Ok when did you obtain the last CC with Navy? I'd give it atleast 90 days if not 180. Then go back for the 2nd CC. If I'm following you correctly. You applied too soon.
The Flagship has stricter UW due to the $5K minimum SL. It sounds like NFCU literally only found one thing wrong — that the minimum limit was too much for your profile based on their criteria.
The good news is their other cards are all on looser UW since they don’t have a minimum SL. I would look at the offerings and pick one. The cashRewards is a flat 1.5% on everything with no minimum redemption while the rest of the cards have $50 minimums so that’s the one that I would go for. Give it 6 months with that card and app for the Flagship and you should be golden.
NFCU wants a relationship before they’ll extend a lot of credit.
Also NFCU will likely HP you again, NFCU loves their HPs.

These banks make no sense to me sometimes. Except for 2 cards all my other cards starting limits have been an average of $10K plus. I was approved for the first tech odyssey card with a 25k SL and my scores and profile were worse at the time then they are now When I was approved for that card, and I heard they are very conservative.
The person I was originally speaking with said , if I should apply for a different card with in 30 days they will use the same credit pull. I applied for the Go Rewards yesterday and doesn’t seem to be the case because I got an additional HP on my TU now.
Usually when your denied they give you a reason to many inquires, to many new accounts etc so you know what they are looking for in a sense but in this case, there is really no explanation as to what caused the denial. they are saying I don’t qualify for the minimum limit, but as to why they still haven’t said. They are not clarifying as to why I do not meet criteria for the minimum starting limit for the card. Which I thought by law banks have to give you detailed reasons why you are denied.
I get your frustration but NFCU does things differently.
Hopefully you get the Go Rewards. Keep that and use it for 6 months and then you will be primed for a massive SL on the Flagship.
As for using the same HP, I believe the only way that NFCU will do that is if you call them and even then it’s likely case by case. Standard protocol with NFCU is to expect an HP for any credit request.
Banks by law only have to give a reason why they deny you. There’s nothing in the law that says it has to be detailed. Stating you don’t meet their minimum requirement for a specific card is reason enough.
I suggest stop comparing yourself to others. It’ll just drive you bonkers. Get a card because you want the card, not because others got the card at what you perceive as a worse profile than yours.
NFCU is a relationship bank. They don’t know you or your spend habits yet. In time, they will reward you for being a member. So give them a chance to know you and you won’t regret it.
