Hello all, i have had my NFCU nRewards secured card since July 17th. My scores have come up a lot since then and i always PIF before the statement cuts. I received this email from Navy this week. In you guys experience how quickly after these types of emails have you seen your cards be switched? I'm just over the half way point to 6 months, 3 and a half. Is this saying I'll likely graduate earlier then the normal 6 or is this just a reminder that I'll get there one day lol. Thanks!
I've definitely seen some threads about fellow Fico'ers graduating at the 3 month mark or just beyond it so it's definitely possible. It took 9 months for mine to graduate, but it was definitely worth the wait. You should be graduating real soon.
I know that Navy nrewards has a new process where you start off with a secured card, in 3 months it can potentially have a credit limit increase without you adding any additional money (so basically becomes partially unsecured), and then 3 months after that (6 months total from creation of card), it can be considered for entirely unsecured and a refund of the initial deposit.
That could be what is happening here but it does use the words CashRewards so unless their partially unsecured card is graduating you to a cashrewards card, it seems like they are considering you for a fully unsecured card 3 months earlier than normal. It could just be an automated e-mail that doesn't have the correct terminology, as well.
Either way, it looks like good news! Please keep us updated!
They did give me an unsecured CLI at the 2.5 month mark to $900. I started at $500 secured. I'm not in a big hurry as i use my PenFed card as my primary cash back card at 2%. I do have a specific purpose for this card when it does graduate though so hopefully prior to Jan 1.
I got the same email as you and I have two cards one CL 5k and one 3k. Nothing happened to mine at the 3 month mark.
Sounds like it may just be a keep up the good work auto email at the half way point then. I was glad to get the CLI at 2.5 months so maybe it'll graduate early and maybe not. I was kind of hoping that everyone would just say that the month after they got this type of email they saw it graduate but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Congrats , looks like you are on the right path. Treat Navy good and they will take care of you for LIFE!
My secured nRewards graduated month 15 (my fault carrying a balance) I paid balance in full, card graduated next cycle ! I was also able to get an immediate cli after graduation!
Be patient, graduation day will be here before you know it !
Correct me if I am wrong?
Isn't NFCU graduation normally around 7 month mark?
They advertise a 6 month review and from I've seen on here it seems like most people get them between months 5-7. Some less or more depending on how they've used the card but most around the 6th statement.
@Anonymous, Thank You
