NFCU membership and cc application

So I put in an application last Thursday for membership with NFCU. It said the application could take up to 7-10 days to process blah blah blah. So fast forward to this past Wednesday and I was checking my Transunion report (my EQ and EX are frozen due to some fraudulent stuff) and low and behold I see a hard pull from Navy! I checked my email religiously on Wednesday and Thursday but no welcome email ever arrived. At that point I was pretty bummed thinking they didn't accept my membership or something but I decided to just call up to my local branch and see what they could tell me. They said everything looked great and that I was approved for membership. Yay!!! I went this morning to the local branch and put money into the savings account and when I got home I applied for the cash rewards credit card. I got a message that said the application could take 24 hours to process...is that normal? I guess I was hoping for an instant approval. Smiley Sad  My TU score is currently sitting at 682 so I figured with that score and only 1 baddie from 5 years ago I should get a pretty decent limit but now I'm not so sure. I'm worried because I've heard some people say they've had EQ pulled for cc and cloc's so since mine is frozen I don't know if that will cause a problem with my application. Should I just call and make sure they pull TU or wait it out? I hate that today is Friday because if I don't hear back by the end of the day I'm going to have to wait until Monday. lol Any suggestions?

Wait it out. Yes 24 hour message is common. They will pull TU for a cc if EQ is frozen. But, not for a CLOC. Been there done that. I had to thaw EQ for that.

Re: NFCU membership and cc application

I just got a notificiation that they pulled TU for my cc app so fingers crossed I'm approved! It's also good to know that I'll have to thaw my EQ if I want to apply for CLOC but I'm not looking to do that any time soon. Thank you to everone who responded! You guys are awesome!

Goodluck OP and congrats on the membership. It's been about a week now waiting for approval for my membership since I faxed my application along with the supporting documentation such as the Navy league, receipts and drivers license Smiley Sad.

Same here, 8 days as if today. Called Thur to ask for status and stated still pending. Gave them my military ID card and wife's drivers license. I figgered being mil it would be faster but not so. Oh well just wanted to be a member so that when ready to app, I can.

Re: NFCU membership and cc application

Ok, so for anyone who cares here is an update: I was hoping to hear back from Navy today about a decision regarding cc my application but instead I got a message from them saying that they needed to know how much I pay for my student loans. My heart sank. I wasn't thinking that my student loans would come into play here. I owe quite a bit on those bad boys (to the tune of $65000) but they are currently in deferment until next May. I called the number they gave me and explained all this to them and the nice lady I spoke with said it was documented and I would hear back by Monday or Tuesday about their decision. Maybe I'm being a bit of a pessimist, but it doesn't feel like this is going to work out in my favor. Smiley Sad Still hoping for the best but we shall see...
