NFCU question

Hey all,

Been with NFCU since 11/15. About a year now. I have a 18k go rewards and the 15k navcheck credit line.

I have ran about 75k through the card in a year. I almost always pay it off every month.

So, I asked for a credit line increase to 30k. They called me and asked for proof of income. Is it as simple as that? Show the last 2 pay stubs and should be good?

My scores are 650's for all 3 bureaus. I am 2 years this month out of bankruptcy.

Another weird thing is my wife had a 6600 limit go reward card and the same 15k navcheck credit line but she asked for an increase to 25k and got an abrupt declined! She has no public records or lates and her scores are 670's! So, I was shocked. The only difference is she has a ccredit utilization of 70%, I have about 20-30% utilization. Not sure if that would be the deal breaker for her? She has only been with them since April, around 6-7 months...She called this evening and they said they mailed out her denial letter. She has bigger limits through wells fargo and bank of america so we really dont understand how they didnt give her an incease.

Anyways, is there any drawback to sending in paystubs? Or, go for it and hopefully they will increase me? Should I apply for a different card or no?

Thank you.

Re: NFCU question

I would bet it's the utilization.  Guess you'll know soon enough.

ALso if they asked for your most 2 recent pay stubs then you should be good to go once you get them to them.  I just went through that today myself and they approved me within 10 minutes of getting them in.  Love NCFU

Re: NFCU question

Just sent in 2 last stubs (been on vacay) so they said if approved would have an increase in 24-48 hours, if not a letter would be mailed out in 7-10 days. That was the secure message system that they sent. I will report back.....

Hi prpecp,

Congratulations on your CLI.  I do not currently have an account with NFCU, but will probably sign up with them later in 2017.  I am trying my best to stay in the garden for a little bit more time to give INQs to drop off my report.  I am very intrigued by NFCU and wanted to thank you for sharing your experience with NFCU with us.  ;-)

In a similar situation scores wise (might be a tad higher) and closing on a house next week, already joined the SD chapter to get into NFCU and will apply for their Go rewards card but hoping to get at least a 10k limit and a decent interest rate, one can only hope.

hate to go the route of SD chapter being a 13 year Army vet but I didn't retire or receive benefits though I get to use my VA loan.
