For kicks and giggles I went to NFCU website to try the prequalify and it was instant with "you're pre qualified for nSecured card"
Twas curious, I know one generally needs to repay NFCU back before getting back in. Has anyone gotten their secured card and then unsecured without repaying them?

try the prequalify <- Marketing tool ... this doesn't help you with NFCU.
As for NFCU, if you have burned them, chances are there is records of it. Since a CU is different than a bank in how they handle that stuff, I would assume that you would be denied as you are hurting members in the CU and not a bank's profit.

I don't know for certain as I've never burned them, but I do know from others on here that you're playing with fire when it comes to burning Navy. If I recall correctly, there's a member that has waited years and still not graduated to unsecure. I bet someone here knows for sure though. I would definitely wait until you receive plenty of data from others before attempting so as to not waste a HP.
You will not get ANY credit products without repaying. Just had a friend try not long ago. The reason given for not being approved was loss caused to the credit union. I, myself had to repay to get back in their good graces and they've just now cracked the unsecured credit door open for me after 20-21 months of having the secured card.

put a $1000 in your share savings and I wonder if you'll "prequalify" for the unsecured cards as well
as others stated, you won't get any credit until you pay them back in full
Nope until you pay them back you will not get any credit products from them period .
Their prequalify is just marketing and not reliable .
I'll echo what the others said above. Just marketing on the prequal tool. And you have to pay them back if you hope to get back in.

You have to make them completely whole - a settlement won't do it - and petition the Board of Directors for reinstatement.

Correct. Guess I should've been more specific.
