NFCU

Tomorrow I will be opening a NFCU checking account. Wondering if I should apply for a CC and CLOC.

With NFCU is it still a HP for each product? Or can they use the same pull for all now?

Also don't really need a another credit card, if I do get a NFCU do they care how frequently I wouldn't use it? Any danger of AA? I know if I apply Barclay will AA for this. My scores are hovering high 690s low 700s. Three baddies from 2013. Utilization at 12 percent and currently have Amex, Discover, Barclay, Freedom, CSP,Cap one, and BOA BBR.

Re: NFCU

NFCU is the best.  I would apply for both a CC and CLOC, it will cost you an extra HP but the CLOC is very nice to have and if you use it, it won't count against your utlization. With your scores it should be easy to get nice limits.  In this credit applications section you will find a very long thread started by Credit Addict entitled NFCU CLI ....  I suggest you read some posts there and folllow his/her advice on how to maximize NFCU oppourtunities.  There simply is no lender who is more generous to folks with average incomes and scores than NFCU.

Just one thing to mention - the CLOC is a revolving line and it actually does factor into your revolving utilization. Smiley Happy

Re: NFCU

Thanks for responses. I saw the NFCu CLi threads, they don't really answer my questions. I am not interested in CLI's since I have pretty healthy credit lines already and I am not looking for additional exposure that isn't warranted.

I will go ahead and go for the CLOC as well. Nice buffer for utilization since I most likely won't use it. Thanks Hunu for the update on that.

Now back to my questions- does NFCU care about how often and how much you use a card? Any risk of AA if you don't use? Like how Cap One doesn't care if it sits for a year and how Barclay gets butt hurt if you don't use it? lol

Can they NOW combine credit pulls for other products? Or is it still a HP for each product?

Chances of being AAed by NFCU is virtually zero whether you use the card or not.  It is still an HP for every credit product application.

Re: NFCU

I applied for NFCU credit card and got a 6500 dollar one.  Then I applied for CLOC and got turned down.  I don't really know what the point of CLOC is anyway.  You don't get rewards for it.

They pulled Equifax for the CLOC and Transunion for the Account and for the credit card.  Then they pulled Trans Union a couple days later after I applied for CLOC. So I got three NFCU on Transunion in 4 day period.

Re: NFCU

When you app for the CLOC, it's been suggested to always ask for the max $15k. If they don't want to give you the full $15k, they will counter with a lower amount.

I just joined and was approved instantly for the Cash Rewards Signature Visa with an SL of $14,300.  When I applied for the CLOC, I asked for the max $15k and it was sent to review and they countered with $4k. I'll follow the other threads guidelines for a CLI and I'll likely be over $20k on the CC and to the max $15k on the CLOC in the next few months. Very happy with NFCU so far. I'm also lucky that there are three branches within 20 min of where I live so I'm thinking about moving my checking, savings and money market to them. Enjoy NFCU!

Re: NFCU

Hi Andy, if you feel you dont need any more credit cards or credit dont feel pressured into having to apply for said products just because its Navy. I dont think Navy would care how much you used them . One poster baught a lunch and ending up getting like a 20k increase anyway.

However, In my humble opinion, id glad take a Barclays AA for the opportunities provided by Navy FederalSmiley Happy
