Last month my husband and I joined NFCU and were both turned down for credit cards. Neither of us has any pre-approved offers in the Offers section of their website. But today my husband got an email titled "Get Cash Back with cashRewards" and asking him to "Apply Now" for the cashRewards card.
Does this mean he has a good chance of getting it, or is this just a general email? I haven't received one, and I've been a member a few days longer than him, and his credit is slightly better than mine, but not by much.
Just hoping to avoid another hard pull for nothing, but we really want in with NFCU even if it's a low SL so we can prove ourselves.
When I joined, I didnt apply for any credit products. They did send me a email after a while asking me to apply. So I did and was approved. Good luck!!
Pulled the trigger. Declined. Why send us an email to apply if they are just going to deny us? Grr.
Sucks that I got here too late! Most of the emails are just that, an invite to apply. Have you tried to recon the denial? I would send a very nice message asking for a recon to start with a low limit to prove yourself. Good luck!
We sent in a message requesting reconsideration and mentioning a few things such as 12 years of credit history, numerous positive accounts (mostly closed), never late on the car payment, 95% on-time payments, 26% utilization (which isn't too terrible) and attached proof of his full-time income as well as our side-business income which comes into my bank account. Fingers crossed. I really hate the thought of another hard pull for nothing, especially when my husband is really sensitive about his credit because he feels like the dings on his credit are hurting his family.
