Navy Federal Everyday Checking LOC & 2nd CC question

I became a member last week and only opened a share savings and was able to get the cashRewards Signature Visa.  Today I called my advisor and he set up checking for me over the phone. The lady who helped me set up the credit card told me that since I was using it for a balance transfer that it was best to get a different card for spending.  I am too nervous to try for another one but at the same time, I really want one!  What would the LOC do if I app for it?  I don't really know what it's for.

Maybe Creditaddict can lend some advice??? Smiley Happy

Re: Navy Federal Everyday Checking Approved but...

You can open 2 NavyFed cards....but this is what I have found is that you should reallocate some of the 1st CL over to open the 2nd card

FICO 5 ,4, 2 - 10/2023                            FICO 8 - 10/2023                                   FICO 9 - 10/2023                                   FICO 10 - 10/2023

Re: Navy Federal Everyday Checking Approved, Need advice from Creditaddict

As of lately it has been hard to get NFCU to reallocate funds from one card to fund a new card.  Some have been lucky but many, such as myself, have been told either we'd have to do a product change or apply for the card that we're looking to acquire.  I'm sure CreditAddict will chime in soon enough.  I'd like to believe that NFCU is currently HP'ing for each new CC.  If you're lucky enough to get a Credit Card Representative who will reallocate funds from one card to another, you will need a minimum of $5k to fund the new account without a HP if I am correct.  Good luck.

FICO scores are your calling card to the business world. Build a negative reputation and those doors are hard to open, find that perfect balance of credit responsibility and those doors open when you desire them.

If they suggested it then I would do it!

Apply for the Navcheck for $15k also now that you have the checking account set up.

why even think twice about a hp when you were able to just wipe out all your terrible rebuild cards in 1 swoop! this is what you fix credit for

@+1 with what CA just said. Couldn't of put it better myself. I went from having first premier and barclays (avg credit) to cards like Sallie Mae @ 13.99% and now NFCU cashRewards @ 10.65% APR (prime plus 7.40%). Navy is definitely worth the HP for whatever product they're willing to give ya.

LOL, Thank you CA.  It was more of a subtle suggestion from the CSR.  Not worried about the HP at all. I only have 4 now and one falls off in 2 months so I'll be back to 3.  I just get very nervous (scared is more like it!) about denials!!  I know, crazy right!!?

As far as the LOC, what is it for exactly?  I also can't make up my mind which 2nd card to apply for.  GoRewards or Flagship?  I have yet been requested to send in any docs.  If they ask, will it be for pay stubs only?  I went by combined household income, as the CSR told me to do.
