Re: Navy Federal Thread for CLI and Additional Cards

I read a post about someone being denied because they don't have any utilities on their name. I don't have any utilities in my name either.  Will mail from the IRS suffice for verification of residence? If not, I spoke with the leasing office and am going to apply to put my name on the lease and put my name on the utilities if needed. I haven't received any verification requests from Navy Fed yet but I know it's coming soon.

Do you have a cable/internet bill? Even if it's not in your name, a quick call to customer service to add a mailing address with your name on it should get you sorted out.

I have never had NFCU verify anything for me. When I signed up, they didn't ask for so much as my drivers license, let alone a utility bill and all the stuff BECU wanted from me. They wanted to know what branch and rank my grandfather was and that was that.

That is great to hear. I called yesterday and they said the only verification would be to fill out a form that they're sending in the mail and send it back. I just got scared after reading the thread of denial over a utility bill. Maybe I'll hold off for now and see what I receive from their in regards to a verification.

Well I joined in 2018. 2020 is a whole new ball game. I have seen people say they're even verifying income now. Probably wouldn't hurt to have something in place in case they want it.

I just joined Navy Federal last night and was approved for the Platinum Credit Card this morning with a $1,000 credit limit.  I am excited as this is my first unsecured card since my charge off in 2015.

I've been reading this thread and see the suggestions of charging the card and paying it in full befoee the statement cuts. Does that mean I should pay $100 on the card and pay it off so the statement shows $0 balance? Would this hurt my scores by not using any of my credit?

I appreciate any input.

If you are trying to play the score game, there is AZEO amongst other things you can do but you can get advice on that in general credit. Imho, you need not limit yourself to only using 10% of your new card because that is what is expected. Use your card as you see fit. Navy doesnt mind pif or carry balance though its always best to try and pif so you need not worry about it later. Its ok to let a balance report then pay or pay as you go, as i often do. Like stated, how you are trying to manage your scores depends on how much you allow to report but to get more luv from Navy it doesnt really matter so long  as they get paidSmiley Happy

We're  Going Streaking!!😆

Wonder where @AverageJoesCredit , comes up with these things?
