@M_Smart007 Congrats on CLI

I can provide the only possibly useful DP's I went to $29k from $25k CL on my Cashrewards Card without a POI request. I haven't tried my Platinum card yet as it's not up yet.

The extremely quick scan seems most of us went past $25k without POI on our Cashrewards cards, not Platinum cards. I wonder if NFCU has different CLI lending requirements for these two different cards.

My daughter got a NFCU Plat card in July with a SL of $25k, and received a $4000 CLI bump last month bringing her CL to $29.  No POI requested by NFCU.  I'm not sure what triggers the POI requests, but it doesn't appear to be card specific.

NFCU 91/3

Hey Guys

Quick question : I am coming up on my 91/3 with my more rewards Amex card . I've been following the forum and planned to ask for a CLI at the end of this coming statement .

I was considering waiting until maybe February (4th statement ) to ask for a CLI . I wanted to pay off some other debt beforehand.  If I don't ask for the CLI after the 3rd statement , will that impact how much I get approved for ?

ive paid all statements in full so far .

Question:

I am very new to this forum (I was told by a friend about it).

I applied for a CLI for my more rewards card on 12-2-2020. SL was 3k. I put in 10k for request (had no reference for what to ask for). Checked 2 days later and I was increased to 5.5k.

Did I mess up by not applying for 2nd card 1st? When could I apply for 2nd card? I have learned my reading this forum all day that I should have done 2nd card app 1st then done CLI on 1st but lesson learned. Can I apply for 2nd (score updated on 12-4 on app to 697) or do I have to wait for the 6 statements?

@Anonymous, Welcome to the forum!

My guess in since they did not give you the full Covid 19 cap $4K CLI,

applying for a second card right now might have it's limits.

You could wait 91 days and apply.  However ... I am pretty sure if you wait 6 months, would yield the best results. All JMHO

As you have read, always best to ask for a CLI after applying for another card.

Congratulations on your IncreaseSmiley Happy

@Duke_Nukem, I believe it has to do if they think you are self employed.

Technically I am employed by my Corporation, but because that it starts with my last name,

Then "Venture Capital LLC" they must treat it as "self employed" .. it is the only explanation I can come up with?

I ran into the same problem when I applied for the Flagship. "DENIED" and when I put 1/10 of my income,

Instant approval.

I have seen others have the POI request, when they were "self employed"

Re: NFCU 91/3

Pretty sure the 91/3 is just a minimum waiting period

 If you wait longer while improving your credit that's good too

Re: Navy Federal Thread for CLI and Additional Cards

Congrats on your nice CLI on Platinum, @M_Smart007! Smiley Very Happy

... Even though they made you work for it!  Lol  Smiley Tongue

I'll be six months out from my courtesy-covid $500 CLI in a couple of days but I think I will wait until January to ask for more.  Navy denied me a new card on July 6th due to excessive new accounts, so I don't want to push them.   On January 10, 2021, I'll be down to 1 new account in six months, four in twelve months, and it will be over six months from the denial so best to wait until at least then.

If I can manage to garden until 05/01/2021, I'll be down to new accounts of 0/6, 3/12, 10/24 and in a much better position for beginning to add new accounts.  Six of those ten in 24 age beyond 24 by the end of 2021.  But gardening is hard after you come to My Fico
