I dont think ive ever received automatic decision. Just dont have one of those profiles. What i like to do is request and then i check by signing in and look at my available credit to see if it was granted. If not just try again laterSmiley Wink

NFCU additional card question...

Are there any downsides to consolidating cards after you reach the unsecured max?

I currently have:

  • Platinum #1 - $10.7k opened 1/2016, last CLI last month (to max unsecured)
  • Flagship - $45k opened 2/2019, last CL change 10/2019 which was a reallocation of $20k from Platinum #1 to this card.
  • Platinum #2 - $24.3k opened 6/2019, no CLI ever on this card

My working plan is to eliminate Plat #2 in 6 months, reallocating $15k to the Flagship (total $60k) now, followed by the closure and moving the rest to Plat #1 to bring the total of that card to $20k.

Does this plan have any faults?

The only fault is if they say no to the combination which they do sometimes.

Great plan... Yes it has to be approved.. considering you had them a while i think you good.. a lot of folks been getting approved for cards on a monday and thursday asking for a relocate limits.

I think it's a UW thing. They see added risk with the larger limit on a single card and may deny based on that. It doesn't happen often but it does happen.

NFCU really likes to manually review most everything. The only instant approval for anything I've ever had was when I asked for a $500 CLOC after my Platinum app went pending.

Re: Navy Federal Thread for CLI and Additional Cards

Hmm does navy sometimes lag, the last increase on the card I tried yesterday was October 28th 2020 181 days would be April 27th 2021 it was declined maybe I pulled the trigger too early? Maybe I should have waited a day or two extra

I don't think anything resets with a denial.  You could try again in a couple days or wait whatever amount of time.  I set my excel spreadsheet to 183 days to be sure.

Re: Navy Federal Thread for CLI and Additional Cards

I think I saw earlier in the thread a while back people usually give it an extra day or two, I also wonder if whoever underwrote the request just looked at the month and the day and didn't count the days, I highly doubt it's a denial for another reason my exposure with them is less than 1x my income and 1 inquiry in 12 of pulling tu, my second card is due today for 181 I'll probably wait and submit both on Friday
