Do we know which mortgage score? One would think they'd use the FICO score provided in their app. I know when I apped for a auto loan they used TU 98.
I'm basically just wondering which score I should pay attention to right before I request my first CLI in a couple of months.

They have been known to use a variety of models. I have seen a CLI use TU98 as well. You should really just focus on your overall profile instead of worrying about individual scores.
Yeah I'm definitely focused on my overall profile, I only said that because I feel like with a CO on my report that's not due to come off until 2026, I feel like there's a certain number I need to achieve before asking for a CLI. Make sense?
I will not miss a payment for any of my cards when my 91/3 is here but my profile is currently limited on how much it can grow because of the aforementioned CO, so I just feel like there's a number I need to hit before I request one, that's all.
NFCU isn't very score-focused. There is no magical number that will get you approved or denied, just optimize as best you can and take your shot. Now that it's not a HP anymore for online requests, just pull the trigger and see where it lands.
What's strange is that is my fico 9 score but it said out of 818

@Anonymous wrote:Hi everyone,
Everyone here is awesome! I've been reading these forums for over a year and following your advice to a T. Thank you so much. At this point it would be selfish not to share my DP.
I was just approved for a Flaglship Rewards card with a $25,000 SL!!!! I started off being denied for a Cashrewards card in September of 2020. I immediately applied for a secured nRewards card with a limit of $300 and was approved. At the time I also had a Cap1 Quicksilver One card with a $2,600 CL.
On aprox 10 FEB 2021 I was upgraded to a CashRewards card with $2,000 CL. My 3rd statement was cut on 8 May 2021 (yesterday) and today the long anticipated moment of truth had finally arrived. Following everyone's advice I applied for the Flagship Rewards card (best fit for my current spending) before applying for a CLI on my CashRewards card. I was immeditely approved with a $25,000 SL and 9.99% APR. I can't believe it!! Both the CL and APR are better than I had even hoped for. My Cap1 QS1 has an APR of 24.49% and my CashRewards has an 18% APR.
Since being approved for my nRewards and ever since it was upgraded to a CashRewards I have never left a balance on my card. I don't even leave a balance come report date so utilization always shows as 0% even though I was typically spending $1,500-$2,200 per month. I know some suggest it's smart to leave a small balance, and they are probably right. I just felt more at ease not doing so.
Current Credit Scores:
Experian: 665 (just dropped 20 points a week ago for a currently undiscernable reason)
NFCU FICO 9: 689 (also dropped 20 points a week ago)
Transunion: 708 (down 9 points do to the inquiry from above)
Thanks again for everything! Yall are amazing. I'm not sure where I would be without all your help!
Congrats on your successes!
The reason a small balance is recommended is because you get a scoring penalty for all cards at $0 and creditors don't see you using credit so they have no incentive to approve you for new credit.
So does this count on AMEX CARDS also
So I should show a small balance say under $100 at the ending statement date?

No it does not count towards Amex cards.

That is an Equifax 5 Mortgage score range.
Just to add per @Anonymous 's Siggy
"Real world mortgage maxes are: EQ5-818, TU4-839, EX2-844."
I've seen a lot of very recent posts here state that Navy now does soft pulls if you request a CLI online. I'm wondering still whether it's soft or hard. Their site (https://www.navyfederal.org/resources/articles/personal-finance/credit-limit-increase.html) says "it will create a 'hard inquiry' on your credit history."
Is it 100% soft pull to request a CLI online?
