My NFCU 91/3 time frame is in 2days. I want to apply for CLI on my GoRewards SL $3k, and also apply for auto loan.
My question is how much of a factor does having a high balance on the card affect being approved for the CLI, I’ve been hearing all kinds of things so I wasn’t sure?
Also is it best to apply for CLI using the app or over the phone?
I heard you may receive an automatic CLI option with them but Idk how to trigger that to happen or whats the criteria for that.
All my scores are in the low 700s. Though I recently had a hard inquiry from penfed when applying for Gold visa 5days ago. So 2 hard inquiries over 12 months ago and that new one from pen fed. My Equifax is 715 on CK
@Anonymous, I would not worry about the high balance, they can see you are using the card.
Auto Loan is a completely seperate dept. So it will have no affect on credit card and visa versa.
When asking for a CLI, DO NOT do it over the phone, or it could be a HP!
Ask for CLI's on the NFCU Website or Cell phone App.
Good Luck!
My DW NFCU CashRewards was opened 11/04/20 with an SL of $1000 we weren't very good at staying on top of requesting her CLI on 91/3 so she requested it just a week or so ago. Declined! "You have reached ...Maximum unsecured credit limit".
Her credit score on the letter was 789.
I was pretty surprised, however when I looked at her account I found that the card was over its limit by about $20 when the CLI was requested. I am guessing this is the actual reason for the denial.

N-Rewards card was promoted March 12th
called today( March 30th) asking about the AMEX and if I should apply, they said I have used my card as I should and it would be fine to ask for a new card.
I applied online, hit my TU(current 648) and was approved with a limit almost double all my cards combined.
The moral was don't wait, when it graduates give it a week or two and ask for the next card you want.
thanks everyone on hte forum for hte help

After trying for 3 months (already passed 6 months since my last CLI), NFCU finally increased my limit on my More Rewards card from 23k to 27k. The standard 4k CLI during COVID.
Yeah, that's what we like to see!
Congratulations on your CLI!

Sorry to hear about the denial.
I would get the card paid down some and maybe try again in a few months or so.

That's definitely some cool news!
Congratulations on your approval
This is probably a stupid question, but, I've had my NFCU card for a year. The anniversary date just happened. When I call for an apr reduction request, I call and ask for the credit card department correct?

Hi @newfossil , The only dumb question ..is the question NOT asked
You can ask for a APR reduction at exactly (1) year.
The CSR can tell you "IF" you are eligible for one.
Good Luck and please keep us posted on your progress.
Congratulations 👏👏you give me hope
