I'm not sure if anyone else has pointed this out to you yet but I noticed as I was reading your comment that you said "No second pull showed up on his credit report" That in itself was a flag about the mystery that surrounds this scenario. Navy no longer pulls for membership. If there's a HP showing on their credit report it's due to a credit product inquiry. I've seen more often than not that when someone joins Navy via a CSR over the phone that the CSR will inform the new member of different credit products and often the new member ends up apping for a credit card during that same initial phone call. It understandable if the CSR did in fact go through with an app for a credit card and asked the basic questions; income, mortgage, debts ect...and submitted the app without the new member realizing the questions asked were for a credit app. They would be none the wiser of whats asked just for membership purposes if they were just signing up for the first time. It would all be virgin to them. So my thinking behind all of this is that the CSR did in fact app for a credit card during the initial phone call while setting up the membership. The comment you left stating "NO ADDITIONAL CREDIT PULL SHOWED UP" leads me to believe that there was one initial credit pull and your friend and you assumed it was from joining when in fact they no longer pull credit just to join. Hope my response came out how I intended it to and it's not a jumbled mess like I feel it may be. Lol

I was unaware they stopped HP's for membership.  But he maintains there was no discussion about a credit card app.  I chalk it up to some confusion along the way between him and CSR during the call.  He's pretty easy going and needed the card for his rebuild anyway so thankfully it turned out ok.  Then I informed him of the SUB on the card and he was even more ok with it lol.

Re: Navy Federal Thread for CLI and Additional Cards

I just spoke to NFCU CC customer service to see how long ago I had a CLI.
I asked about if enough time had passed to apply for another card and they said new rules were 90 days new card and 6 months CLI from last increase or new card.

Re: Navy Federal Thread for CLI and Additional Cards

Well, this just happened.... I posted in the approval section but figured I would update here as well!

Hello to all!! So, after I became a member here and reading and reading and reading and reaching out to others...I finally achieved something I once thought wouldn't happen!! I still have lots of work to do but I can definitely say and now feel the rewards of all the hard work and time spent here and doing the right things, financially.

My Fico scores are in the mid 600s. Navy pulled TU for a new card as usual. My TU Fico is 666 (awful number). I applied today with 6% UTL. I do have some derogatories and still 2 COs on my TU report, soon to be 1. No late payments with an AAOA of 5 yrs.

Based on my experience and from what I've read here I'm starting to think that my past relationships with my local CU held more weight then my initial thinking. I don't have a clean file by most standards. My initial relationship with NFCU started in Jan of 2019 with a savings account and the CR 7800. I've put about 10k through the CR in the past 3 months (vet bills with a sick pup) and was paid in full except for this most recent month which was reported with 6% utl.

I can't say thank you enough! This forum has been a life saver. I started in the upper 400s not even a year ago and now mid 600s with 35k revolving credit... A CO to be removed next month.....700s soon. Again, thank you to all and I hope this gives someone out there hope....

91 days and 3. New card. Im going to wait for the CLI until 6 months!

Wondering if I left money on the table...
App'd for my first NFCU card and was instantly given 25k at the lowest rate.  Should I let it be or see if there is more available?

Relative to your other cards $25k is a really strong approval.

Unless you have a specific need, don't mind another HP and don't mind providing proof of income I would let sleeping dogs lie.
