Re: Need advice on app spree

baller i kind of just hit a road block. usaa's cusomer service is kind of terrible. a couple months ago a guy on the phone told me he could sign me up for a military affiliate over the phone and i could immediately apply for a usaa military affiliate card. this woman i just talked to told me i would need to sign up on my own and call back. am i even able to join a military affiliate if i wasnt in the military? the guy a couple months ago said i could do it. heres a link to the affiliates that they accept

https://www.usaa.com/inet/pages/banking_credit_cards_military_groups_main

what can i join to get a usaa card? i hope i can get a card i want one badly

Re: Need advice on app spree

Ok I don't know anything about the affiliate route. But just clicking on a few listed, it appears that once you join USAA you can pick one of those cards and USAA will make a donation on your behalf to join that affiliate. But you FIRST have to be eligible to join USAA. I am a member through my father who was in the Army. He had to join first then sponsor me.

Re: Need advice on app spree

If you're not eligible to join USAA, then you're not eligible for one of their credit cards.

Dont be misled by the word affiliate.  It doesn't mean you can join one of those groups and be eligible for an USAA card.  It just means that USAA, as ballerr4life says, donates a small amount to that group.

im not a full member and have no way to join. damn the guy on the phone a couple months ago was gonna let me apply. what if i called back and they let me apply and i got accepted? would a problem occur afterwards? i got a feeling i can convince them to take the app. i just dont know if il run into a problem afterwards and il waste a hard inquiry

Re: Need advice on app spree

Have you considered Penfed? I'm salivating over their Promise card. They are EQ pullers like USAA but anyone can join.

Re: Need advice on app spree

You say you are not a full member but you are a USAA member right? Limited members can't apply for cards online? I'm a full membe. So, I don't know how limited membership works.
