Re: Need advice

Pay down all your credit cards to 8% or below.

Contact the collection company and see if they will do a paid for delete.

To answer your question why you are not getting more credit is because you look risky. You are using too much of your available credit. Banks like you to stay below 30%. 8% looks even better.

Did you burn Cap1 in BK? As a general rule if Cap1 doesn’t give you credit, there is something up with your profile. I’ve seen people get cards a few months after discharge.

I also have a dismissed BK. I didn’t bother with even trying for unsecured because my scores were so low. I just went straight to the Cap1 secured card. A few months later I checked the prequal and it showed unsecured cards.

Im curious how you have delt with your Discover card. Have you been on time with all your payments? How much of your credit do you use? What is your income. Your income may not support more credit. Also who did you burn in BK?

Re: Need advice

Bk I had dismissed cause i decided i didnt want to do it.

cap, never had there card before. I got approved for a car loan, that i didnt use.

discover i have had for 18 months, started with secure graduated back in sept.

this is the highest amount i have ever had on them.only would put 200 or 300 and pay off.

for cap 1 i tried prequalify yesterday. and they even sent a message asking me have i opt out

of prequalifers. so i called the number to opt in if i had, i dont remember ever doing that.

and i make a 48 k a year.

plus investments and things.

Re: Need advice

Yeah, something is going on with your profile because I have lower scores than you, double the inq, and higher utilization and I just got approved for 2 cards last month. What's your income and have you ever gone over your limits even if it was because of interest?

Re: Need advice

Never been over limit ever. alway ran a under 10% util for the last year. until last month.

income is 48k plus investments. but i will add i never apply for anything with a hp unless

im totally sure im going to get it. Thats why i try the prequlifiers only

Re: Need advice

Similar profile to yours except I defaulted on student loans.
Since you just got your car, new credit card is 2 months old banks see us as risky to give credit.
Just pay off credit cards and wait 5-6 months and you’ll qualify for amex or discover.

Re: Need advice

Oh, I'm so dumb. You got a new car loan. Your debt to income ratio is probably too high. Figure that out and if you're around 30 - 40% that's probably what your issue is. Another factor would be the balance on your new loan is too high, but as it comes down you'll get a better response. My new car is less than a year old, but I own my house outright so I don't have rent or mortgage to factor into my DTI.

Re: Need advice

Hello. Hey thanks a lot for responding. And you are right, my dti is 35 percent.

Score planner on experian explained that i shouldnt go above 35 percent, and not to

apply for any new credit until my aaoa reaches 3.8 years, and not to apply to any new cards

until my new card reaches 5 months.

I saw my scores and i got the itchy finger to check to see finally some  prequalified offers for once.

Thank  you very much for the advice. Ill report back when i reach the deadline and let u guys know

what happen.
