My husband and I are rebuilding, I discharged a Ch13 on May 5th, he was not part of that. His scores are mid 600's across and I have one that is now over 600 and two others are 558 and 575. He has a LOC and MC with NFCU, the LOC is 10k and the MC is 3k, he just got a car loan with them for @23k (was approved for 33k). I have a Visa with NFCU at 1k that I just got in June. We were wanting to do a cli on his MC, but I was thinking that maybe we should do a joint app for a 2nd nfcu card? Combined income would be 98k. Any suggestions?

I think the joint application is a good idea. Let us know how it turns out.

id try for a CLI on his MC first if he has had it for more than 3 months because it sounds like AR's just happened June 30th. ask for $25k if you dont' know and it should counter if he is eligible
Well we did the CLI for 25k on his MC and they gave him 5k to bump him to 8k total. I think we will wait until next year to try a joint card in order to give me some time to build up a bit more from the May 5th discharge and just getting NFCU visa for 1k unsecured. I was wondering what your thoughts would be about possibly trying for a small personal loan around Octoberish with NFCU, if that would be any help in building back up my credit?
WIfe had a BK but waited 5 years to app and was approved for NFCU. It's a good card and she likes it.

Do you have any installment accounts on your reports currently?
No I currently do not since my discharge was just 5/5. I have only applied for the NFCU nrewards visa and got 1k unsecured last month. I was not sure about how to time everything on requesting other cards or installment loans. When I received my visa from them the eq score was at 669 on their disclosure form.

Head on over to the BK sub forum for help with rebuilding after BK. An installment loan would help your mixture of credit. Just something small like a $1k loan is all you need.
