Need help with prequalified CC results

Hi there,

So I have been going to random credit card websites to see if I am prequalified for various credit cards. I am not interested in obtaining a new credit card now but since these are soft pulls, I am curious to find out if I am prequalified.

Last night I went to the Prosper Card website and filled out the info. It came back as a denial for preapproval and the reason was this:NO RECORD FOUND IN CREDIT BUREAU!! It told me they soft pulled TransUnion. I later checked my TU report and I saw the soft pull from Prosper on the report. So this makes no sense.

This also happened about a month ago for the Upgrade Card as well. It came back denied and mentioned there is no record for me when they soft pulled my credit reports.

I also tried Mission Lane and Credit One last night(again just seeing if I'm prequalified, not gonna get their cards) and both of those DID prequalify me.

Can I assume that Upgrade and Prosper are saying NO RECORD FOUND because I don't have a FICO score yet? And for those cards they need to see a FICO score? That's the only thing I can think of.

Any thoughts or knowledge would be greatly appreciated thanks so much!!

Re: Need help with prequalified CC results

@MikeyMagic, yeah, pretty good bet the denial was due to not having any FICO scores yet.  Regarding the Mission Lane preapproval, I find that one kind of odd as it has been my understanding they do not accept folks applying out of the blue, but require you to first be sent a preapproval letter in the mail.  Granted that knowledge was gleaned a couple years ago, so maybe things have changed, but I'm quite certain I've read numerous reports of folks trying their preapproval site, get denied, and then a few days or weeks later get a preapproval letter in the mail and and bingo, they're approved when they apply.

Chapter 13:

  • Burned: AMEX, Chase, Citi, Wells Fargo, and South County Bank (now Bank of Southern California)
  • Filed: 26-Feb-2015
  • MoC: 01-Mar-2015
  • 1st Payment (posted): 23-Mar-2015
  • Last Payment (posted): 07-Feb-2020
  • Discharged: 04-Mar-2020
  • Closed: 23-Jun-2020

I categorically refuse to do AZEO!

Are you sure that was Mission Lane and not Merrick Bank? I thought it was Merrick where you need an offer from them through the mail but I could be wrong.

But yeah Mission Lane in their website had their prequalified application page and I filled it out. It came back as me being preapproved and wanted me to finish the application. I then left their website and received 2 emails this morning reminding me that I am super close to finishing the application and congratulations for being prequalified lol.

Yup, 100% sure it was Mission Lane; I know this because I was one of the folks who received a preapproval offer from them. In my case though, I had just landed my secured TDCash card with a $5,000 limit, so by the time I got the offer from them, I no longer needed/wanted it.

Oh okay. They must have changed their policies recently because I was preapproved after doing their prequalified application.

Are they a predatory CC company like Credit One? Are they good for starter cards? Do they give nice CL's? I wish I could finish the application and see the exact offer but obviously that would result in a hard pull that I don't want.

Stay away from Prosper, unless you like problems.

Care to elaborate? I wasn't going to get the card anyways but I didn't like that it told me NO RECORD FOUND IN THE CREDIT BUREAU when I have 4 cards plus PayPal Credit. Seeing that was my main concern.

I understand you were not really looking new card, but Prosper just sucks. I made post about them, just search the boards.

Re: Need help with prequalified CC results

I did  pre approval with no HP to check mission lane because they are a starter card that does very generous CL increse, and I think some even have rewards. they have a good system of either no AF and up to a 59$ af but some people have 19$ af.

I stupidly opened a mission lane card and should have never done it. I got a lousy 300 CL and wasted an inquiry on that garbage. aaoa still almost 9 years though.

if it doesnt at least go up to a couple thousand in the next few months, Im closing it. it's USELESS.

that said, another Mission lane made me do was give them access to one of my bank accounts through.. I cant remember the name of the system.. maybe it was PLAID?

either way, careful with Mission Lane. you can grow the limit yes, but they might charge an af and start you off low.
