As her baddies age, they will have less and less impact on her scores.
My data points:
I have 1 account (truck loan) with a few 30 day lates. These are the only baddies on my credit profile. Whenever I pull my credit report, this information is always listed under negative impacts but has had very little effect on my approvals. They are 3+ years old. That account has been PIF for about the same length of time.
I have cold app'd (BoA, Citi, Chase, Barclay, & Amex) for the majority of my cards and was denied once by Comenity for Pottery Barn.
I hope this information helps. Best of luck to your DW!

Yeah a high SL is the one thing I am guessing will be hard to get. Though even it it's $5k, that will reduce our interest by more than half, and I will then try for a 0% interest card with a BT fee. Hate to pay the fee. I am on a mission to both reduce our debt, reduce the interest while we pay it off, and reduce our monthly required payments to allow us to build a savings safety and focus the payments where it counts.
Makes sense. Unless you are crazy for perks and points and stuff at this moment, you can also try amex bce. The advantage of going with amex is you will have the chance to x3 the given SL at the card activation, or in 61 days. Just make sure you find the better offer on their website before you apply.

Can you explain what you mean by "same card"? How are her inq's and what other cards and limits does she have? That would say a lot about her approval odds and limits. Any specific card she has her eyes on?
By same card I mean that both 30d missed payments were for her Macy's card (we had an issue with scheduled payments).
Inquiries: EX 4, TU 1, EQ 2
Sears $1,391.00 $3,600.00 Gap $0.00 $2,900.00 Amazon $0.00 $2,500.00 Care Credit $0.00 $2,600.00 AMEX HH $0.00 $1,400.00 AMEX Blue $531.00 $5,000.00 Macy's $0.00 $400.00 Discover (AU) $0.00 $8,500.00 BoA Visa (AU) $352.00 $10,800.00 Choice Visa $8,153.00 $0.00 Santander $0.00 $1,500.00
Two cards we have our eyes on for her. The Chase Slate to transfer the Choice Visa and remaining AMEX balances to for the 0%, and either Southwest card.
One thing I would try and do before applying for new credit is to ask for SP CLIs on your current cards. BoA usually requires a HP but I would ask them anyway. It may be worth it to take a HP. Slate is a good option, but Idk if they will give her the SL she needs. I like Simplicity from Citibank. They offer direct deposit which is a nice option so does Discover and BoA. BBR from BoA may be a good fit too. Citi and BBR usually come with a 3% BT fee.

Those are good cards, although i dont have any one of them, but from reading around here, unless you have a very solid profile, they are not known to be very generous about the SL's.

I think they are good cards too. DH was approved last week for a BBR with a 12K SL. It's been 2 years since his house was almost foreclosed on. His mortgage is through BoA and they also increased his BankAmericard from 7K to 15K with a HP. Both of these were instant approvals. Some more data points for OP. I think your DW has a good shot at getting what she needs.

I did that a couple of hours ago on her AMEX Hilton Honors and got it to $4200. I'm glad I am thinking the right way!
I will do the same for the Blue once the DW gets home from work later tonight, as she has her card so I don't have the 4 digit code.
The BoA is mine and she is just an AU on the account. Same with the Discover.

Amex has specific rules on CLIs. Idk if it applies to cobranded cards. I don't think you can get CLIs on two Amex's at the same time. Again, I'm not well versed on all the ins and outs for Amex so I hope others will chime in to clarify.
Don't limit the CLIs to DW's major credit cards. Ask for SP CLIs on her other cards too.

Gah. You are right. I should have read the very end of the AMEX guide. I should have done the CLI request on her Blue at $5K, as obviously 3x $5K is more potential than 3x $1.4K.
Oh well. Live and learn.
I will look into the cards with SP potential, but there isn't a lot there. Then we'll consider the HP cards.

No worries. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. If your DW is planning to apply for new credit then I would hold off on HP CLIs. Are you still planning to apply for Chase Slate? If yes, how soon? You may want to wait until after DW's credit profile has been updated with all the new changes.
I'd like to have her apply for the SW Plus pretty soon, as we are buying tickets beginning of June and would like to have them count towards the spend requirement for the 50K bonus.
The Slate we still plan on applying for, we are just waiting for the updates from her as AU on my new Chase cards (which will drop her UT dramatically). I would wait for the CLI on the AMEX, but i'm not holding my breath on that as they seem to take forever to update.
She currently has the Chase Amazon at $2500 so I'm wondering if that helps her with possible starting SL, as she is in the door with them already.
