Re: I Need to increase my overall credit limit by $98k, Burned Banks / Blacklisted?

Your student loans should not dramatically affect your scores.

My DW had 820 scores with over $200k in student loans before PSLF.

I built my Cap One limits to over $80k with 3 accounts with heavy usage and closing and reapplying cards I felt were not growing fast enough.  Total limit was decreases to $50k with lack of use as I got other cards.

Look at my sig and see what is available that you have not burned.

GL!

Rebuild started in 2014  -  $100k unsecured credit in 2017  -  $500k unsecured credit in 2024.

While you may view some of the comments here as negativity, I think for the most part they were simply trying to convey reality.

Completely changing your post, including the title to criticize the opinions you asked for is a bit of hypocrisy, not to mention confusing to other members new to the post now trying to determine what this whole thread might be about.

This exactly.  Since the original post was completely redacted, I have no idea if it was a troll post that it seems to be now.  So many people post here hoping to get answers that validate their reckless credit behavior and/or current position rather than actually offer help and constructive criticism.  The way the post is now, it makes me think the OP has not learned and is only wanting to "humble brag" and not really seeking assistance.

A saying comes to mind, "you can drag a horse to water, but you can't make them drink."
