Hi all,
Question. I recently applied for the United Explorer card last Friday and got the message about needing more time to review and they'd decision my application. One phone number i call gives me a 30 day written decision message, and another phone number i call says I'll be notified within 7-10 days of a decision. I've read through the forums about 30 day notice likely being verification of some kind and then 7-10 day message usually being a denial or verification. Just wondering how long a decision normally takes with Chase? I only have a checking account with them, and i opened that maybe 2 weeks ago. All of my bureaus are around 720-740, 2-3 inquiries each, 4% total utilization, no collections or derogatory information reporting, currently 4/24. What sort of expectation should i have given the information here? I've called in and spoken to a live rep but still being told it's under review and that's all the information they have. Please share any experiences that you've got or any insight that would be helpful. Thanks in advance!
Best wishes
A Chase 30 day message means that the application is (still) in the queue to be reviewed.
Chase UW works EST/EDT weekday hours, so less than 2 working days have passed since you applied. It's not unheard of for them to take 3-5 business days before there is a change from 30 day status.
Since you already have a Chase account you can also log in online and check your application status by clicking on the 3 bars on the upper left to select the main menu and the very last menu item in the EXPLORE PRODUCTS section you will see "Application Status". If that transitions to a 7-10 day message go ahead and call again with the expectation that it may turn out to be a reconsiderationi call.
I got this message when I applied for my Chase Disney rewards card. I was disappointed because I thought it was an automatical denial. A few days later they called and asked if I had really applied, I guess they wanted to verify it wasn't identity theft. Then they approved me for a 4.3k limit.
It doesn't sound like there's anything in your profile to keep you from being approved, so just sit tight. Good luck!
Thank you all for your replies. I was being impatient (first time applying for Chase), and logged in to see an approval this morning. I was approved with 10.2k at 23.49%, but APR is not a concern for me as I usually PIF. Super excited to earn some United Miles now and hopefully that'll pay for a flight for me around my birthday. Y'all rock.
