I was approved for a Barclaycard 3 days ago. $2000 limit. I received a pre-approval for a new Capital One card. (Venture) I've heard of so many people getting a Credit line decrease or worse a closed acct from Barclays if they apply too soon. Any stories? I really love capital one and I would love to try and get that card. I just don't want to screw myself for Barclays. Thank you!
You will be fine as long as you haven't opened up a bunch of cards recently and don't open up a bunch in the next 6 months. One other card isn't going to make Barclay do anything. Just don't go crazy.
If you want/need the card, apply for it!
I've gotten 2 Amexes in the time since my Barclaycard was approved in March... have heard nothing from them. But because I'm not using the card exclusively (or much at all, really), they're denying me SP CLIs and APR reductions, so be mindful of that.

So here's what you do, call Barclay (recon), tell them you're about to make a big purchase. Get a credit limit increase instead of a decrease. Have a great day.
OP- you will be fine opening up 1 or 2 more cards. The AA from Barclays usually comes when one opens an obsene amount of new cards.

That works maybe 25% of the time
