No AF Travel Rewards Card

I'm looking for some recommendations for decent travel rewards cards without an annual fee. I don't really spend enough to justify paying an annual fee, but I am open to suggestions for cards that maybe waive the first year's fee that I can downgrade before the year is over. I've read a bunch of threads on here, but most of them were a couple years old and the info may be a little out of date, so I'm curious what you all would reccomend. I'd like a card that will earn points redeemable for travel, even if I'm not spending on travel purchases (though I would likely use a travel rewards card for travel purchases as well). I have plenty of time to decide, as I'm not planning on doing any apping until December or January (hoping to pick up a Chase Freedom as well but I need to wait for 5/24 to fall off). I'm not loyal to any travel brands/companies either, since I have very little travel experience. I'm hoping a travel rewards card will help me make future travel dreams a reality.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

EDIT: probably should have put this in the general credit card section, so MODs feel free to move.

Re: No AF Travel Rewards Card

There are a lot of articles on this if you search Google, but to keep the story short...

basically the only cards marketed as "travel rewards" that have no AF (to my knowledge) are the BofA Travel Rewards, and CapitalOne VentureOne cards. Oh and PenFed Travel Rewards AMEX (I think this has no AF).

They are basically point cards that let you redeem only for travel expenses.

IMO if you were going to go that route I would suggest a QuickSilver instead for straight and easier 1.5% cashback on every purchase.

Re: No AF Travel Rewards Card

You mentioned you had time, so I think it is good to research and decide on a card that fits your needs and don' t get one just based on reviews of the.card. I think you have the idea, in making sure it will work for you.
