No Disco CLI for me! (For the DPs)

This is the first time I've been denied a CLI by Disco since opening the card. Not too concerned what the letter will say, but if it's some bizzarre reason I'll update here.  I'm not surprised, it's my oldest card, started as a secured card, graduated and got steady $1k+ increases every 6 mo or so both auto and on request, but the last time, 8 months ago was only a $500 increase, so it's not surprising they had nothing this time, seems they're at the max they're interested in offering on this card, especially considering the info floating around that Disco is highly exposed in the current economy combined with the fact that I don't put a lot of spend through them because it's simply my lowest rewards card.  Also of interest I used to get non-stop barrages of mailers from them to get another card, but haven't seen one in a while. It's the "Chrome" (gas/restaurant) card, unfortunatley, originally intended to PC it but they stopped offering PCs right as I went to do it.

2 months ago I did happen to have quadruple the spend because I accidentally paid the previous month twice, and with a $-600 statement balance, plus some purchases they somehow decided to send me a $3.12 paper check for overpayment. Having to send me a paper check may have put me on the naughty list, despite the sudden bump in spend to almost $2k in one month over the usual $200-$600.

It's 1mo shy of 3 years old, had steady 6 mo increases up until now, and is my lowest CL card by far at $5900, considering the large increases I received from the others in the past few months.  But with low spend, and Disco becoming much tighter in general of late, it's not a surprise. Definitely doesn't add incentive for using my lone 1% card more though... Smiley Happy

Considering the rate people bash on the button and get nothing with Disco, another Disco CLI rejection isn't interesting, but the anomalous details could be of interest to someone, somewhere.

Re: No Disco CLI for me! (For the DPs)

Update: Reasons letter arrived. There's 3 reasons, two are just different phrasings of "AAoA too short" (which is a little funny because it's the highest it's been when requesting CLI from them and the first time they didn't bite)

And the other is the funniest, "low credit lines including mortgage on open accounts" not sure what that means as I have no loans or mortgage, and it references open accounts, so it's either that they want to see loans which is weird for a CLI request, or they think my limits are too low on my revolvers, which happens to be funny because my lowest limit by far is this one with Amex 3x higher and Chase 2x higher, Citi only 50% higher.

I'm pretty sure this is all just a euphemism for "We've not made a dime of interest off you, you overpaying cheapskate!" Smiley LOL

Ahh well, might have hit my ceiling on this one.

Disco denied me a few times on both cards in 2023 but in 2022 they gave me 1 cli on one card and 3 on the other. They will give you a laundry list of bs reasons and some of them don't apply so don't feel bad, you are not alone.

Miss Disco is a mysterious maiden.

Re: No Disco CLI for me! (For the DPs)

I am not surprised at all. To be honest, that is pretty much the name of their game. I hear it's quite hard to get a CL with them or even a card unless starting at secure. In my thoughts, It's good to start and build; however, there are other credit cards out there that offer higher SLC and better rewards overall and service.

I hope you are enjoying retirment and I hope some luck comes for you in all you do.

Total Credit Line Summary (TCLS)

AMEX: $52,450
NAVY: $50,000
Sync (Sam's Card and PayPal Cash Back): $30,000
Mix of Other Cards: $25,000 – These are used for various expenses, including holidays and other purchases, with balances typically paid in full or kept at 1-2% utilization.
Total Credit Line Available: $180,000+

Credit cards are for emergencies (like tacos... just kidding). Use them responsibly!

Re: No Disco CLI for me! (For the DPs)

I've had a Disco card for 15 years. I make a 6 figure salary. 5 years ago Disco denied my CLI request. On a whim on Monday I decided to ask for another. I was denied. Pretty sure I've reached my ceiling with Disco. It's more credit than I'll ever use and also the highest CL card I have so I'm not complaining.

Also banks are tightening up on their lending criteria due to so much overexposure of card holders. I know that this is a generalized statement but it is generally true that more people are living off of credit cards than they were three years ago.

Just my thoughts and ancillary data points.

Re: No Disco CLI for me! (For the DPs)

I totally understand. It's been three years since my last CLI. It is not my daily driver.
