Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
I will start off by saying that I do a ton of lurking on these forums, and based on all of the information that I have read, I never imagined that I would be approved for this card today. I felt that I absolutely had to make this post, because I believe that many people think you need a stellar credit score in order to get approved for a mid-tier card or better.
For the past year or so, I've been working on never missing a payment and getting both overall and individual card utilization under 28.9%. The cards I currently have are:
Capital One Platinum ~ 3K
Capital One SavorOne ~ $500
DiscoverIt Cash Back - $500
Current scores:
EQ - 645
TU - 645
EX - 666
Taking a gulp of breath, I applied for the card. I wasn't approved instantly, but I was told that someone would reach out to me. I received a phone call roughly 20 minutes later, with someone stating that they'd have my approval results in about a minute. Fully expecting to be denied, I was approved for a 9K CL!! SUB is 60K points. Needless to say, I was shocked. I just went from a $4K to $13K total limit in the blink of an eye. In my mind, I'd have been lucky to even have been approved for the $5K minimum. Perhaps the fact that I had paid off a car many years ago that I had financed through them, or the fact that I was a Chase Private Client user by extension for several years when my parents were linked to my Chase account when I was young contributed to my approval.
I say all of this to say, just apply if you are unsure (unless you are SUPER unsure). Keep paying on time, don't spend what you can't repay, and keep utilization down for a while. You never know what might happen!
Do you have other paid off cards with higher limits? I could see your profile meriting a 5k SL, you are already managing 4k with the other cards, but yeah this is a slam dunk!!
Also, is your income higher? like 100k ish? I have a relative that has been getting these types of approvals recently and she BANKS HEAVILY with Chase and also makes good income in the 100k+ range. 100k isn't what it used to be, but it's still a solid income.
CSP is a card you PAY IN FULL. Do NOT carry a balnce on it esp cause right now the newer accounts rates are like 29 percent!
CONGRATS! Hope you got a great SUB!
P.S.
After this card reports to the credit bureaus, please go ask for CLIS on your other cards, esp those 500 CL ones, you either gonna have to close those or get CLIS to further keep growing your score.
