I have had my discover it card for almost four years now, and have never recieved a CLI.
Over the years my scores have ranged from 600-730, depending on utilization, No CLI at any time. Manual or automatic.
Tried again today, instant denial. People with my scores now (at their low end) are getting approved with much larger SLs!
I began with a $500.00 limit and am still at that limit.
What have I done to Discover to make them hate me? Any advice?
increase your score. lower your uti
I figured as much, but like I said, I've had 2% utilization and 730 scores and still no luck.
where u get your scores from? whats the reason for declined they give you.u need to tell us if u want us to help you.
I've always gotten scores from MyFico, so they're true scores.
Reasons have ranged from length of credit history and loan balances to utilization and inquiries.
I've never had more than 2 inquiries in a year. My AAoA is typically around 2-3 years, though it has dropped recently from a new student loan.
I do understand the loan balance part in some regard (I am a law student, it is not cheap haha) but when that is the only reason they can cite, I get frustrated. Which they have done.
Utilization ranges, but my past few requests were when utilization was below 30% (except for today's - I was testing waters).
I guess what I am saying is is that I never get consistent reasons from Disco, even when I request in similar score situations.
Is it your oldest card? If not, I would cancel it and apply for a new card later. You'll probably get a better limit.
I have another card the same age, I got them both in the same week as my first 2 cards.
I've read that you can have two Discover It cards, so I do check the Pre-quals and keep that in mind.
@sasha123 RIGHT. It makes absolutely no sense to me. I am so frustrated. Part of me wonders if I threatened to cancel if they would do something for me. That's sad though, becasue I really do love that card and have nothing but good experiences in all other aspects.
I even have a secondary checking account with discover!
