Re: No Luck Discover CLI

I guess I kept thinking it would come with time, like with my CapOne. That one started at 2K and has steadily grown and PCed to a Venture One.

And I know what you're saying about limit. It feels good to have a really high one, haha.

But even here, I'd be happy with an increase to 1,000. Like I'll take anything

Re: No Luck Discover CLI

Has someone pulled the emergency brake on the CLI train again?

Or they are concentrating on new accounts....

Sasha. am i reading your signature correctly on myfico? Disco is your *highest* CL at 7K.... sit back.. garden.. and try again in a few months...

Your BK is making them a little shy.....

Garden a bit and try again in a few months...

Also i wonder if theres a problem with secured accounts again...

As an aside.. its been proported by one of the credit card aggregation sites.. that discover is doing some sort of system update and merging discover card and discover bank accounts....

Not sure how true it is but its making their data a bit wonky too...

Re: No Luck Discover CLI

I literally just apped for a new Discover IT just to see if I would get any results. I don't care about the inquiry since i'm semi-gardening haha.

No go there too. I'm just trying to test the different routes and see what I get.

I'm not sure about secured accounts. Mine has always been unsecured so I don't know too much about those.

My checking account is fine, I use it for small transactions to get the cash back.

Re: No Luck Discover CLI

It doesnt make sense but its still your highest limit... C'mon now...

Other issuers have done this.. Amex and Chase... Chase is known to give it all at once....

I have 2 chase cards and neither have moved past their initial CL...

my scores are 760-770 range (fico, not FAKO).

One card was 5200, and the other 4500.. and they are over a year and a half old....

Still feel you *might* want to try after your 7th statement...

Re: No Luck Discover CLI

I thought Amex was pretty notorious for their 3x CLI?

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think I'd even want a revolver with Amex. Charge card though... haha

Re: No Luck Discover CLI

OP, I didn't see you mention anywhere what your typical monthly spend is on your Discover card and whether or not you PIF.  Spend is one of the biggest factors when it comes to receiving and/or stimulating CLIs from almost any lender.  If you aren't doing it already, make sure you're putting the full $500 through your card every month.  If your expenses exceed that, do multiple payments and push $1000 through it if you can. This doesn't mean you have to spend more money; I'm not suggesting that at all.  Simply take purchases that you'd pay cash for, use a debit card for, or put on your other CC and move them to your Discover for a few cycles.  If Discover sees you using an excess of your limit it will give them a very good reason (the best reason) to give you a CLI.

Re: No Luck Discover CLI

@BrutalBodyShots You're correct, that was my bad! Thank you for your feedback.

I did that almost all of last year, aiming for a CLI and racking up cashback.

No luck. I was putting every expense I could on there, but a few large transactions were barred by the low limit, like plane tickets and rent.

Even with that 700-900 spend a month, it didn't do much for me, so that's why I've been trying the adverse.

I have about 50% utlization on it now (I could pay it off, but again, I am experimenting with Discover) with only a few swipes a month. This way I may get them to notice me as lower use but still making money off of me from the balance haha.

One day I'll figure it out. Today is just not that day.

You mentioned your scores were as high as 730, what's holding your scores down now?

Re: No Luck Discover CLI

Utilization. I recently purchased my Bar exam review course (goodbye 4000 dollars...) on my cap one. A necessary evil I wanted time to cope with haha.
