No Luck Discover CLI

Re: No Luck Discover CLI

I think Discover can be stingy.  I have scores over 750 with 10% Util and I put thousands of spend onto my $6000 card (PIF) since I've had it and was given only a $500 CLI after 3 months (after a 2 day review), and I've been immediately DENIED every attempt since.  So looking to Discover for increases is barking up the wrong tree.  And if you have low scores and high utilization, it's even more of an uphill battle.  So I wish I could tell you to charge it up and PIF all month every month and get your score up and util down and you would get your CLI....BUT... I can't say that.

Keep up the battle, never give up.  But focus your gardening elsewhere.  Get that util down and scores up and get other better cards that will grow.  Nevermind Discover.

Re: No Luck Discover CLI

Ive noticed your siggy has you with the Student version. I understand this sometimes can be bracketed. One factor i know that can affect your getting cli besides your scores, utilization, etc is your income. As a student how much have you been reporting these past 4 years.? Im not a student, my income stinks and Discover appears to be washing their hands with me lol. If your scores remain as low as they are right now Discover will not deem you worthy of cli imo but as mentioned you may eventually get a better version like the regular It. Anything else negative on your profile that hasnt been mentioned yet?

Oh Sasha, i'd take that 7k and run, Getting starting limit like that usually will lead to better increases eventually. Good luck on eventually getting Disco luv, Pimpin Aint easy Smiley Wink

Re: No Luck Discover CLI

I asked disco once about me having a student version and they said it’a the same as a regular “it”. And it says no where on my account that it still is a student version strangely enough. I may call in a few months when I try again for a cli. I worked full time as an undergrad and and now part time as a law student. I report about 40 income, which is accurate. I don’t try to fudge those haha. I’m beginning to think though that apping again later when my util goes down is my best bet.

I have a 30 day late from 2 years ago on a retail card. It was an auto pay mistake and they won’t goodwill it off my report. It’s never been cited as a reason though strange enough.

I figured as much, but like I said, I've had 2% utilization and 730 scores and still no luck.

Was this 730 score a recent change, looking at your signatures, it does not seem updated. You should check if they are pulling an old score as that may also be a factor that lead to your request getting denied. I'd wait for one whole cycle and keep your utilization low and allow the new scores to report before you hit the CLI button.

Re: No Luck Discover CLI

You know this is an interesting thread. Discover can put you in a "box" as can other creditors and sometimes the box isn't a good one. (Speaking from experience here.Smiley Happy) Just a thought that you may not want to do, but I might really consider calling and telling them your situation. Tell them you are a law student prepping for exams. Good luck!

Re: No Luck Discover CLI

In regards to the Bar pricing comments, I bought a Barbri review course. I havent even paid for the actual exam yet hahahaha.

I think you're right about calling. I'll heal my rejection, pay off my review, and dial away. Can't hurt!

Thank you guys so much!
