No new cards. It's been a year, where do I go from here???

Okay, so I haven't received a new card in about a year. I've been SO tempted to try for a better or more prestigious card, especially for travel and/or rewards, but everything is just too damned confusing or intimidating!
I have two cards I would like to change, a 10k Citi Diamond Pref and a 6k Cap One Platinum. I was told I could call and ask if I could upgrade cards like those to Double Cash or Quicksilver, etc. So, I can get points (I hope)? Anyway, ...
Recently, I saw Experian raise my score to about 795. I haven't done a FICO pull of my own in over a year, but my reported FICO scores from other cards say that EQ is around 770 and TU 755.
I think they may be higher. Dunno. Will pull when I know I want a new card for sure.
I'd like to travel at the end of the year to Japan, and I am tired of having most of my cards at 10k to 15k CL without ANY rewards!!!
Citibank has offered me 3 cards in this last month thru email: The Double Cash, The Prestige and tonight an email said they would like me to apply for a Citi Plat World Elite AA card (I hope that name is right!). Plus, 65000 miles for $4000 in 3 mos. is not remotely unheard of for me, but I dunno! What about a Chase card? I have one inquiry dropped this month, another next month, which would give me less than the 5/24, but waiting till the end of June is like slamming my head against a wall. Plus, aren't there other cards that are decent for travel and points???
Which kinds of travel/points cards am I more eligible for? Does the Citi Elite AA card sound like a good start? To get the ball rolling for better offers?
I lose another inquiry in Nov, and thought I could get a card now, and maybe a Chase SP in Nov.?
I am so unnerved!!! I want better cards, but I would like to keep my SL offers off as high or respectable as possible.
I mean, I could kill $4k on Ikea installs and stupid impulse Tesla Powerwall purchases in the first month alone (I bought a new solar house in Aug. 2018 and am still in my "honeymoon" phase).

If there is any advice as to which cards seem like a possibility or good idea to start investing in, I would appreciate it! I mean, my credit is finally around 800, I have no bad past anything, my average age reports at 11yrs on TU, 3 1/3 yrs on EQ and 4 on EX, and I usually spend about 2k to 3k a mo. on cards and PIF as much as I can.
Lemme know if anyone has advice, opinions, or experience to share. Thanks! 😅

With your profile, the credit world is your oyster, you just hsve to decide where you want to eatSmiley Wink.

Might be best to start a thread in credit cards if you are looking for specific travel related credit cards or cash back etc. If people know what your spend looks like theyll offer better advice .

What card(s) you add depend greatly on your personal spend, so that's something you'd have to work the numbers on.  I agree with the advice of doing research on the specific cards that you're interested in.  In the meantime doing product changes from non-rewards cards to rewards cards is a great idea.  This can usually be accomplished with a 2-3 minute phone call to the creditor and you'll get to start earning right away.

Off topic, but in your post you said that "Experian" raised your score where I think you basically meant that your Experian score went up.  It's worth making this distinction because the bureaus do not raise or lower scores.  All they do is compile data and then that data is fed through any number of different scoring algorithms that will then generate a score.  If your EX score went up, it means that something changed (for the better) on your EX report.

Anybank would be gladly issue you a card with that kind of credit file... it’s a matter of what you want most from your card now. CSP is a great card especially when you can afford to spend $4000 for the SUB. Good luck and keep us update on which card you decided to get!

I think this would be better worded if it said your already anticipated spend is $4000... as in one already spends that typically anyway, or they have a big (perhaps travel) expense coming up and know the spend will be hit.  Worded as being able to "afford" a spend may suggest unnecessary spending and doing so in order to achieve a SUB effectively erodes the SUB to nothing many times.

I was thinking the same thing! I would think that you will be able to pick any card you want and get approved. Just figure out what rewards you want and go from there.

Don't get cards just to get cards. Do some research and chose the card that is going to best serve you.

I would product change the Citi card to a Citi Premier card. I find the Premier card to be an excellent value.

If you want to do some heavy research, you could look into the travel partners for Citi Thank You Points and Chase Ultimate Rewards Points. If the travel partners for Chase are more up your alley than the travel partners for Citi, you could go for a Chase Sapphire Reserve or Chase Sapphire Preferred.

Pretty much everything that was said is right. I would factor in what your daily spend is and get the card that rewards you the most for your natural expenses.. There may be several but also if you have a destination or traveling preferrence, I would gauge which card has the travel partners that coincide with places you want to go. I love my Cash+ card because of the 5% categories I get to choose each quarter.
