Not Happy With New My Citibank Diamond Perferred Credit Line

Just got approved for the card with a 3K limit and it's my lowest CL ever.  My next closest credit limit is 10K. Anyone know the steps to take to try and request a higher limit.

Customer Serive was no help. Got someone that didn't speak english well and started to ask me qustions like I wanted a new account.  Is there a phone number I can call over at citibank and talk to someone that whould be helpfull or at least give a fair reason why my CL is at 3K

My scores acroos the 3 CRA are all over 720 and this is my first account in 5 years.  No late payments ever

When you get the card and activate it, you can request a CLI. It will be another hard pull.  Citi doesn't recon credit limits so if you call and ask for more, the same thing will happen, another HP.  There's a good chance you will get an increase so you have to decide if it's worth another HP.

Citibank is quirky. I got approved for $1800 5 days after applying with scores similar to yours. My wife got the same prescreened letter and had scores similar to mine and they wanted the 4506-T form. We never complied with that.

2 months later I got a prescreened letter for Double Cash. Instantly approved for $3000.

Wife 2 months later got prescreened Home Depot letter and was instantly approved for $2000. Declined for recon. Went on the Citibank website and she had preselected American Airlines card. Instantly approved for $4200. Scores in the 720's on Eq and Ex.

Just accept what they gave you IMO and take it from there in 6 months.

If you feel like your profile supports a higher limit then request one online once you receive the card. Yes, its a second HP but can be worth it. Had I accepted what they gave me last month I'd still be at $6k. Shoot for the moon and ask for $25k, Citi will counter if the entire amount isnt approved. Congrats

Also regarding customer service wait for the Diamond Preferred welcome letter that comes and use that number only. U.S. based customer service every time. Had a taste of the Citi service calling the main number before...not at all helpful.
