Re: Odds for AMEX PLAT with extremely THIN credit file

My parents own an agriculture business in the Philippines which i was originally designated to handle. Buy My fiancé was given a decent starting capital here in the US by her parents and we decided to try our luck in the land of opportunity in hopes of stepping outside the shadow of out parents and making something for ourselves.
Reason why they send me 5-8k usd a month is because sending more than that could give us problems in regards to money laundering.
I don’t mind using my debit card but we plan to go back to the philippines for christmas this december. And tickets would be around $13,000 for the both us and 2 friends who i invited. Would be nice to get points for that.

I would get in touch with a CPA with international clients/experience. Will save you lots of headache in the long run, especially since you will be starting a new business here. You can explore a couple of options w/ your CPA including having your parents employ you through their Philippines company or for you to start a new US based company and have your parents buy shares in the new US company. Lots of options for you to get your allowance.

For now, just wait till that secured card graduates. Ask Chase if that Slate card can be product changed to another card in their line up (the Chase Preferred or Reserve for example). If it is possible, just take that approval for the Slate card. It will grow in limit if you use it properly. You can ask for a PC later on.

For lounge access, you be better off in paying for a year's membership from Priority Pass. After 1 year, I'm sure you'll be able get pretty much any card you want w/ your income and banking relationships (WF and Chase).

Re: Odds for AMEX PLAT with extremely THIN credit file

Thankyou for everyone who has been helping me, yesterday i was talking to chase banker and told me with the amount of money coming in my account he could check and see if i was approved for the CSP and i was.
So i tried to apply for plat thinking if i got denied i’d get the chase. I only have 2 cards so far a discover secured card ($2500) chase slate which i got the first week i was here in the US. (Lived all my life at philippines)
I went on and applied stating my income as “other” AMEX then asked me additional info regarding if i studied/graduated in 18months and total assets.
They then asked for a bank account i use where my income goes in and out so they could check the bank statement for the past 3months.
I gave them my Wells fargo account (thats where i get consistent monthly cash) well i’ve only been here since august 5.
They then asked if i wanted any authorize users for the plat and “gold with no Annual fee”
And approved!
