Odds of Citi approval, and which card to app (Citi NIIB from 2014)

Chase and BofA were IIB, and both denied my apps 6 years post-BK7 resulting in 3 HPs.  Anyone here get approved for a legacy bankcard from Citi (I did not include Citi in BK7)?  If so, for which Citi card should I risk my 10th HP?

You have a Barclays card.

Barclays can be quite skittish even during good times.

These are NOT good times.

I would caution against credit seeking behavior.

I applied with 1 HP on EX & EQ back in January & February of 2019 for Citi and was approved for 4 within 14 days apart with 1 cobranded citi HD. I have heard that citi is HP sensitive so just an FYI. Chase I burned them back in 2007-2008 housing bubble. And they still won't show me love or BOA so I've basically given up on them which I'm ok with.

What do you recommend a good choice for a starter card with Citibank to one day get upgraded to higher tier card?

Sounds like I should wait at least 12 more months (year 7 post-BK) before applying for a bankcard with Citi, or any major bank for that matter.  In that case, I guess I should finally close the CreditOne card, even though it gravely hurt my AAoA.

A good entry for Citi is either the Double Cash or Costco Visa.

You should get rid of that Credit One card now. You have outgrown it and no longer need it. It won't hurt your AAoA because it will still remain on your credit report for another 10 years when you close it. Smiley Very Happy

Yeah!!  Just closed the CreditOne account after requesting a letter of cancelation be mailed to me based on advice I read in this community.

Double Cash will be the card I apply for when the number of HP drops, which will be another 18 months Smiley Happy

Thank you so much for your advice!!!

I do not know about Citi specifically, I burned them, so I'm probably cooked for good.  But, your inquiries should just be an issue for 12 months from their respective dates since that's how long they are scoreable for.  Again, Citi may be special and care for the full 24, but it would be worth knowing for sure.

Desired BK recovery line up complete 7/12/2021. Planning to garden until 8/2023 and potentially try for AMEX.
