I'm at $10k now with a 646.
Yea the wait with NFCU is all for nothing. Once you get the CC, it will rapidly grow anyway. Again, any other creditor I understand the wait for, but not NFCU. It really doesn't matter.

Ok what about this....how soon do the inq's from the NFCU appear on CR's? I was going to apply for care credit and NFCU as close together as possible. Care credit should only be one INQ But NFCU will be 2-3?
Which do I apply for first?
Well which one do you want more, NFCU or Care Credit? NFCU will open you up to much higher CL's than Care Credit. Honestly with the opportunity to get up to a $25K CL I woud go with NFCU. I mean unless Care Credit offers something special for you that NFCU doesn't then go for Care Credit first because NFCU won't care about the inquiries.

Navy doesn't care about INQ really so just go ahead and apply to CareCredit. Besides, CareCredit will pull TU. Navy will most likely pull TU to open the account and then EQ for Credit.

Hahaha. I have 8 inq's from last year. My AAoA is only one year. My UTL last time I checked was around 17%. And I just closed my FP card which I'm pretty sure hasn't shown as closed yet?
I don't know...I guess I am thinking once all my new accounts hit the 6th month mark, my CL increases, my UTL is down and that stupid first premier is closed, then my chances will be much better than now. I was hoping to get my EQ to 700 before I applying.
You can open an account right now and then wait until you drop your UTIL down to apply. They will more than likely pull your TU for membership and your EQ for your CC and NavCheck.
That's what I did, I applied for membership back in March and then waitied for my <1% UTIL to report and then apped for the CC.

Your INQ will appear right away no matter who you app with. My CC hasn't reported yet but my NavCheck is already on my CR and it's only been a couple weeks. But every single INQ from them showed up right away.

I guess it depends on how much of a CL I get with NFCU. i don't want to burn the whole thing with all this dental work. I kind of wanted to keep that separate, and care credit is literally just for that. It may be my weird categorizing/organizing mind.. Each card serves a specific purpose so it doesn't get confusing lol.
I may just see how much I get with NFCU and if it's higher than expected I may just go with that and garden for awhile.
Haven't decided yet. Lol. My amazon card should post my zero balance this week so next week it'll hopefully report and my UTL should be better. Not sure what another zero balance reporting does to a credit score, or if it even changes anything but I shall see.
Hopefully ill see a little boost.
Lower utilization ALWAYS gives some sort of boost. However you also should think about the APR because GE is usually very high compared to what you would get from NFCU. So if you get 10 to 12% APR vs 22.99% with Care Credit that would be a big difference long term. Just something else to ponder .

+1 This. All the way, good advice.
For the record, I have Score Watch here. I hit the CLI and put in to refi my car at NFCU yesterday. The HP showed up within 2 hours.
