I thought having more accounts was better for credit. ? I got that from Credit Karma, since my "number of accounts" grade is an F. hahahha. It shows the more you have the higher grade you have. Confusing.
No and no .
Technically a thin file is no credit history, thinnish file I tend to say is under 2 revolving / 2 installment tradelines: namely, where adding an additional tradeline can have a positive effect on your FICO score (anecdotally demonstrated over hundreds of members).
CK honestly should be ignored for anything but credit monitoring, and maybe Vantage Score tracking. This includes all of their advice, regardless of how it tracks with the advice on this forum. Generally speaking, while we aren't preaching gospel, what's found here in terms of what one should do is much, much better than CK's recommendations, and as a whole anything similar is pure coincidence, sort of like the scores for those who happen to have similar between CK and FICO's.
The data they pull for grade correlation is sort of self-inducing: those with high credit scores tend to be well established, and over time have collected more accounts on their report. It is absolutely not a recipe to attempt to establish the 20 or more accounts (think that was their grade A on that category) right now, we have tons of examples on this forum where that will hurt you in the near and mid-term future (next 3-4 years or so).
I'd recommend to anyone to make a plan based on the information on this forum (there are a couple of other places as well that offer good advice on the net, CK is absolutely not one of them) and then stick to it religiously. Time and patience are unfortunately required, other than getting negative information deleted, there are no quick fixes to one's FICO score.
Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to state that NFCU confirmed what has been said on this board about reaching the max when they counter. I asked why I was not granted my request and received a counter because the reasons stated was insufficient income and my income is 6 figures. I was told I "met the recommended maximum credit limit amount for my credit score combined with my monthly income and, "you have reached the maximum amount of unsecured credit available to you per our internal lending guidelines for the credit card lending team."
Just thought I'd share that because they did specifically say per the credit card lending team. I guess that means someone could still meet lending guidelines with personal/home/car loans?
Hope this information is helpful
BTW: They pulled EQ and it was only 621 at the time; my lowest score of all 3
EQ is the only score I can't get to budge because while TU/EX have responded positively to my disputes, not so with EQ. Oh well.

Thanks for the info Blunderer. Would you mind sharing your total CL in CC's with NFCU?

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!!!! My one and only cc limit is now 10k
Of course if they pulled TU where my score is 696 I guess my limit would be slightly higher. But I haven't had the account a year yet so I'm happy with the limit especially after starting at an initial limit of $500. And of course it's all due to the wealth of info here so many, many thanks to you all.
On another note; madmann26 do you know something I missed that you were able to correctly determine my limit.

Good hunch! Rather, way to pay attention to the details that eventually helps us all. Thx!!!
I guess I'll have to gain at least another 40pts before requesting another CLI.
