Re: Official NFCU CLI Guide

I just wanted to add a data point for CLOC. I applied for the max $15k and they denied me saying my income was not sufficient for the credit requested ( 75k/ year). They did not automatically offer me a lower line. I had to call and resubmit for $5k and it was approved. I assumed if I asked for the max they would give me whatever they could qualify me for but not in my case. My EQ FICO score is 641. Still very happy to be starting with them. I also have a cash rewards for $1k... Joined a month ago.

Re: Official NFCU CLI Guide

Thanks for the data points, they are seeming more and more not to counter offer on the CLOC , wonder if requesting the max with that might not be best now ? Any thoughts anyone , when we app for car loan next mth we.were gonna also app.for CLOC too , if they denied you bc of insufficient income for 15k at your income level then we will be denied as ours is only in the 60 k range .

Re: Official NFCU CLI Guide

I hate when they use the income statement... my friend makes just under $30k year and was instantly approved the full $15k cloc.

Re: Official NFCU CLI Guide

I guess it just depends on score and profile then, I don't wanna burn another Hp next month , do you think we should still try for the max?

Re: Official NFCU CLI Guide

I totally agree... I have a feeling it's really something else, but they tell you its income. I have only been with them a month so maybe that was a factor... This will be my highest CL too so maybe they are nervous because I dont have other big CL to compare to?

I guess once again YMMV

Re: Official NFCU CLI Guide

Profile is your answer.
I'd still say try max but just know they don't seem to be countering anymore at least on original app... and if denied just go back and submit for just starting line of $1k or something then cli in 2 months

Re: Official NFCU CLI Guide

I agree 100% with CA. Your denial had nothing to do with your income and everything to do with a low credit score of 641. NFCU still gave you $5K, which is a testament to how giving they are.

Re: Official NFCU CLI Guide

^^ Which is understandable, my only question is why the secrecy then? If you just want to see a certain score , that could be stated instead of listing a reason that has nothing to do with the real reason. It would be much more helpful to people trying to build/rebuild their credit if they were honest that way we can work on the real problem instead of having people think they need to make $300K+ a year.

Anywho, I still really like them and appreciate the opportunity to grow with them and I just wanted to add a data point since there are many of us ith a 600-something score who are trying to improve. Smiley Happy

They denied my navcheck and my cli on my cashrewards because of  "bankruptcy" ... It's kinda odd
