Re: Officially done with Bank of America

Solid prequalifiers from Bank of America are targeted preapprovals tied to and extended as a special offer through a current client's online Activity Center.   Other offer types should be more accurately viewed as permutations of invitations to apply.

Re: Officially done with Bank of America

@vic6string I feel your pain.  I too was in a BK 10 years ago (Ch.13) and they actually did give me the starter $100 deposit/$500 SL Cash Rewards Card (BK was discharged at the time, but still on CR's).  So I moved everything over including checking.

Did get some CLI on that card and was un-secured in less than 9 months with a CLI (late 2016).

Finally got that starter card up to a $26k CL today.

Here is the part that irratates me too:

They constantly pre-approve me for their cards (Travel, and most recently the 1.5% cash one)

with a set APR...only to HP me and deny me for too many inq's lol.  I get it that they are conservative, but dont give a pre-approval

if its just going to deny everytime, and subsequently waste a HP.

Tried getting their Biz CC, and same thing.  I even pre-qualified with a set APR...denied.

They offered me a secured Biz but had to deposit $1000 into a CD...yeah no thanks.

If you haven't already...look into a CU for your CC needs.

@coldfusion If you open a new account do you know how soon preapproval offers show up?

Legit pre-qual looks like this online.  Then go into them and see set APR although nothing is guranteed with credit.  I haven't had one in over a year, but started to show up about a month or so again for all cards.  No new accounts in 9 months.

Re: Officially done with Bank of America

Hmmm, well I have been with BofA for about 28 years and they are the worst of the worst. I have also been with Wells Fargo for 28 years and all I have is great things to say about them. With so many choices out there just go find a bank that you like. I  have accounts with many banks, if one rubs me the wrong way I just leave. Do not take this personally. Find a new bank that suites your needs

Thanks

Mark

There is no set pattern, but as best I can tell it's usually at least a year.

Re: Officially done with Bank of America

I'm currently in 13 and recently applied for BoA and was told that I had an account included with them.  My assumption was that it was a checking account that I forgot about.  Anyhow, I was upset and said I was gonna close them down, but then thought twice about it.  I'll try again next year and hopefully we will be in a better space.  Never had any actual credit with them and would be nice to do so at some point.

I wouldn't hold your breath.  The good news is their banking and credit products are nothing special and can be effectively duplicated with any number of other financial institutions.

Be careful, the mods might get mad at you if you criticize him like I did last week. They wasted no time getting on me for something so insignificant and no mods, I'm not apologizing this time. It was silly when I got a private email because I got tired of seeing him saying " Thanks Mark " all the time. All I was pointing out was we know who you are but, they act like I commited a major crime by expressing my annoyance !! Sorry, It was finally my time to vent and I'm glad I wasn't the only person that has issues with him. I'll bet they'll be quick to snap on me again and not say a word to him about flooding the boards !! Sorry again for the rant !!  Smiley Happy
