One BoA personal credit card application generated two hard pulls on the same day, a couple of hours apart, at Transunion.
Transunion online dispute does not have an option to dispute hard inquiries. BoA swears they only pulled once. What is the best way to get one of the two pulls removed?
I do realize FICO doesn't take into account inquries so close together but I would still like to remove one of those if possible.
FICO counts credit card inquiries as separate, always.
How long ago did you apply? Did you check your paper reports for dual inquiries or are you relying on a third party website for that?
Both Credit Karma and Capital One CreditWise alerted me of the two inquiries yesterday. I then went to the official Transunion dispute website today and they pull your credit report so you can dispute, and saw the two BoA inquiries there as well. Everything about the two inquiries is the same: creditor name, address and phone number.
Well a bunch of things I'd suggest:

Shall I use this mailing address for BoA or is there a better one for the department that handles credit bureaus?

- Never do disputes online for any reason but old address. Disputing online is dangerous because it gives the CRAs more time to investigate.
- Never disputes inquiries, ever, as it can get a fraud alert placed on ALL THREE bureaus and those can be hard to take off.
- Never dispute inquiries for positive accounts as it can get the entire positive tradeline removed forever
- Send a letter to the lender direct asking why they had to do 2 inquiries, and ask that one of them be recoded as soft.

Interesting. Because I’ve disputed inquirys and all they did was take the inquiry off. So at least in my case it did not result in a fraud alert. And I disputed online. It was an I query from a collection company a few years back. I disputed it because I had no collections from them. I’d think a double inquiry by a company disputed would just get it taken off. Especially when they said they didn’t pull twice.

Hang on a little while.... It did happen to me with TU and magically diappeared a couple of months later. I had another TU own(?) inquiry for a few months and again disappeared.
