So I'm planning my second mini-spree ever (3 cards) for this coming Tuesday. The 3 cards I'm going to app for are in the subject line. I do not currently have any Chase or Citi cards. I did open a Chase checking and savings account about 2 months ago. From reading on this forum, I've decided to app for the CSP in branch, something I've never done before (I've always applied online for CCs) so I'm stepping a little out of my comfort zone. I hear that in branch sometimes you can get a targeted 70k bonus points offer over the standard 50k points bonus for your $4k spend in 3 months. I also like that if I run into any snags I've got a Chase employee sitting in front of me that will call on my behalf and work it out. Also if I'm not happy with the SL I know Chase will place a recon call for me. I'm assuming that would result in another HP, the same way it would if I reconned the SL myself at home, but you never know and it will be nice to have someone "in my corner" for the app regardless.
My question with these 3 cards is whether or not anyone feels there should be any certain order that I app in? I was going to start with the CSP in branch. I'm at 4/24 right now BTW, with all 4 coming 10 months ago. One of the 4 is Blispay which only reports to EX, so on TU and EQ I'm at 3/24. Following the CSP in branch I was going to head home and app online for the Citi DC next followed by the Chase Amazon Prime Visa last. I figure there's a slim chance that apping for the Amazon shortly after the CSP in about an hour that I'll sneak that with the same HP(s) as the CSP. Not counting on it, but that would be nice.
I'm sort of planning on a double pull from Chase on EX and EQ since I hear about that happening a lot. From what I see on the credit pulls database, Citi most commonly pulls either EX or EQ as well (I'm in NY). I currently have 2 inquiries on EX, 1 on TU and 1 on EQ. Those 4 inquiries are from my 4 account mini-spree 10 months ago.
Any advice anyone may have here regarding the app order or anything else? This is only my second mini-spree ever so while these things may be exciting for some, I find it rather stressful as I want nothing short of a favorable result in the end.
Thanks, I'll be sure to report back. It's always a question mark when applying with a new creditor... you never know how much they'll "like" your profile.
BBS...If you are at 4/24 and you apply for the Amazon card before they have actually sent the CSP, it might cause the CSP to get red flagged and cancelled. I think I would wait until the CSP is actually validated to apply for the Amazon card. I do not think the Amazon is under the 5/24 rule, but if you request it before the CSP is mailed it might cause problem JMHO!
I'd app for Citi first, they seem to be more inquiry sensitive.
As long as you don't wait a long time (my DC reported to bureaus in about 2 weeks), app for CSP next if you want it more than the Amazon. Although some people have success with 2 Chase at once, I see more people not getting 2 for the same set of pulls.
Good luck with whatever you decide

+1. Very good advice. Citi first
So perhaps the Citi first thing in the morning tomorrow from home before heading to Chase to app for the CSP in branch. Then wait a week (or however long) for the CSP to arrive and then app for the Amazon?
Sarge, question though. In getting approved for the CSP would I raise any 5/24 flags before the account actually reports? Until it reports, which I would assume would be at least several weeks or a month (not really sure with Chase) I would still be at 4/24 in terms of open accounts on my credit report, wouldn't I? Maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way, though.

BBS...the thing is both the Amazon card and the CSP are both with Chase who has the 5/24 rule. If the apps are with them, they would not need the to post to know about them is my thinking. It would be known internally I would think, so if you app for both, and the second one put you over 5/24, I fear they may cancel the CSP...I just don't know, just my thoughts.
I see what you mean regarding the internal perspective on it. I wonder if me having a pre-qualified offer on the CSP matters. I guess I can always ask the person in branch tomorrow and see what they say. I'll just let them know that I'm planning on apping for the Amazon, but the CSP would put me at 5/24 and what impact adding another Chase card right away could have on the brand new CSP account. I guess another deciding factor would be based on the HP(s) from the CSP app. If they pull EQ or TU, they'll only see 3/24. If they pull EX (which they probably will) they'll see 4/24. When you apply in branch do they tell you right away upon approval what score you had and what bureau(s) were pulled?

My understanding is the 5 in 5/24 is not number of inqueries, but rather number of new accounts in the last 24 months. Most accounts report activity to all 3 CRA's, even though the credt pulls may be on just 1 CRA. The only issuer I'm aware of only reporting activity to 1 CRA is Blispay, but I may be wrong. I know the number of accounts showing on my credit reports are the same for all three, the inqueries range from 2 for Exp. to 6 for TU.
