" Here are the reasons why we couldn't match you with an offer:
• Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies on the back of this letter, number of
bank cards tradelines opened in the last 24 months
We know this isn't the answer you were hoping for, but we hope there is an opportunity to provide you
with new products and services in the future.

So I got this error, I haven't gotten any new credit card for over a year but did open maybe 3-4 within 2 years. Anyone have experience getting this pre-approval denial and then just gardening no credit cards for 2 years and then getting approved?
As I will probably just do that if its likely I'll get approved. Otherwise I'd rather not waste my time. Or if anyone knows how to circumvent or bypass that denial reason even better I guess lol lmk thanks

I would go ahead and garden because after I did a 24 month stint there I got my Navy Flagship card, Capital One Venture X and an AMEX Delta Gold. Now I am gardening again. The problem with "circumventing" that denial reason is that it may not be THE reason they denied it. The credit laws only require that Cap1 give you A reason not THE reason. Sitting out another 12 months can only help you.
Sorry to hear. I have never found Cap 1 easy to work with.
If I had to guess you had no pryer relationship with Cap1, and you immediately went for their holy grail of cards.

You can't take the reason stated for denial literally. It does *not* mean that if you garden until 0/24, you will be approved. It just doesn't work that way.
What does your profile look like overall? Fico scores, utilization, number of accounts, derogatory marks? If we can get a better picture of your profile, you'll get better advice.
You could call and ask about reconsideration. Or see if they'd give you the plain Venture instead. That's the better version in my opinion. Has a higher wallet hub rating too, for whatever that's worth to ya.
Honestly it's Cap one , they are not that great IMHO and there are much better cards and issuers out there .
I have zero Cap One cards and purposely closed both my disco accounts (35K) limit when they took over .
Follow what you just commented.
There are other good fish in the sea. Also, they don't take three credit bureau hits.
Closed eight Cap1 cards years back. Add, I never looked back.
Cap1 has some good products today but their banking pratices are unsatifactory to me. Will add, agree with posters on Cap1 not liking transactors ... rather, they want lower scores and income. Ok, I get that.
I just noticed how old this thread is. We've long list the op, never found out why he even wanted the V X.
I've got a savor, which I liked when I pced it from QS. Now I Just go us B go, 4% on dining, I guess savor moves into the sock drawer. I don't see where venture would be any better than my usb connect, even without the af.
How many total OPEN accounts do you have? I have been collecting data on Cap1 Venture X card from various sites/forums/credit groups for the last 4 years and found that Cap1 would deny you for this card if you have open 19 accounts....Sometimes they have approved for some people who have even 24 accounts but most of the time people get denied when they have more than 19 open accounts. I was denied for this card when I was 1/24 and score was 846....and a very long time Cap1 customer....13 years....You can do your search for the datapoint on this on all kinda sites to check out my statements....
