PENFEN pre-approval questions

I just checked my penfed account, and for the first time since opening the account I have a pre approval. I clicked on the link and it says I am approved for the gold card. Has anyone been approved for a particular card and not another? or requested it be changed to a rewards card? I am excited about finally getting in with PenFed, just wanted a rewards card.

No experience in changing at approval time but I recently posted a confirmation they do not allow PC's on their opened cards, the max CL for new account holders for the gold card is $15K with a total aggregate CL of $50K. As you're new to them, these will be your benchmarks.

When Penfed extends a preapproval it details the specific card or cards that you have been preapproved for.  If extended via their quarterly refresh it will also show you the SL for each of the cards you are preapproved for, or if you already hold that specific card the CLI you will get.

It could be that if you have a preapproval for a given card you also have good odds of approval if you cold app for a different card (except maybe the Platinum Rewards as that card does have a mininum $5K SL) but you can't in affect unilaterally reassign a preapproval from 1 card to a different one.
