Has anyone here applied for/pre-qualified for/or been approved for any of the PNC credit cards other than the secured? I bank with them, but I'm building credit and gardening...also waiting for a bunch of medical collections to fall off (I'll be waiting for 9 more years...ugh). I figured applying (eventually) for a card with them would give me better odds, since I let them handle my money. lol
Anyways, I was wondering what your scores were? Also, what was your income? I've noticed that on MOST threads, people don't give their income, and that's a BIG factor for a lot of these big name cards. It's a pipe dream for us poor people. lol
I'm not trying to be in anyone's business, but it seems like I could have the right score and history, etc., but if I don't have that $$$ I can forget any big name card.
I don’t know about PNC because I’m out of their market but if you want to see what’s possible with low $18K income, hover over my cards and you’ll get an idea.
Its actually very surprising the kind of limits that issuers will hand out, NFCU and Disco especially blow me away.
Also, negative items of any kind come off no later than 7 years. The only thing that sticks for 10 is bankruptcy.
I suspect my DP may be of limited use to you as I think what you're really looking for are DP from successful applicants with less-than-6 figures incomes. Perhaps I can trigger more appropriate responses from others.
PNC sent me several preapprovals via USPS, which in itself surprised me as I live in the Boston area and not in their normal footprint, and my subsequent application was successful. My scores at the time were comparable to what they are now (see my .signature).
Of course you need income but you don't have to make 1 million a year to be approved for "big name" cards. Income isn't considered in your FICO scores. I think just be realistic when it comes to your credit limits. If you work part time and make 8k per year, I wouldn't be expecting 50k limits on each account that you have.
Income would come into play even more if there is a minimum CL to be approved for a card however.
By the time a lender get to your income, they've pretty much decided if they like you
