Past due date but before closing date

I screwed up!!  I paid off a credit card, or so I thought... and had a five dollar interest balance.  Since I didn't think I owed, I hadnt checked.  Found out I had a payment due two days ago!!  I immediately called, and she assured me that if I paid today, since it was before the closing date, that it would NOT show up as a late payment.  I'm skeptical.  But, I paid the extra $10 processing fee, and am hoping for the best!
All this work on my credit.....  **sigh**  is it too good to be true?
Or am I really not going to show a late payment?  (my last payment just fell off last month! ~ I've waited a long time.)  Thoughts???

Re: Past due date but before closing date

Calm down, everything is going to be okay.  No you will not get a 30 day late.  You have to be 30 or more days past due for them to report a 30 day late to  the cb's.  As the rep has stated he/she is correct.

Thank you for the wealth of knowledge I have learned from these forums. I am logging off as of November 9, 2022. I wish everyone great success.

Re: Past due date but before closing date

Most lenders if you make a payment early bf the due date count that as your monthly payment and you still have until the closing date to pay any remaining balance if you wanted to. I make several payments a mth on mine , some bf my due date then the rest before my closing date to mind my UTI like I want to. I think you are just fine . No need to worry OP

Re: Past due date but before closing date

The representitive is correct. You will not be marked late if you fall behind by a day or so. It actually takes 30 days to be late before they report. Be aware though that by being late you now owe intrest on your current balance unless you make it 0 soon. This is their favorite way of making money.

This happened with my Target card. I paid the balance off completely before the statement closed. I randomly logged back in a few days later and it said that I still owe interest. If I would have never logged on, I probably would have had a late payment also.
