Hello!
anyone get denied an Apple Card then get told if you accomplish x,y, and z by a certain date you can reapply? Its called "Path to an Apple Card." I had An Apple Card and burned them 4 or 5 years ago so I wasn't expecting an approval but with no hard inquiry unless you get approved I tried. Ever since then they send me a bi-monthly email about what to do to get approved. I'm at a 2% utilization or less, "good" credit across all 3, (683, 675, 691) no outstanding student loans. They actually mentioned paying them off which I already have. So that's not even accurate. Curious if anyone has followed this "Path" and been approved by the date they tell you to
There are several threads about people's experience with the path to Apple Card. I researched a bit when I got my Path offer in May.
Several paths but those paths are closing. The whole reason there was a path was from Apples insane rules levied against Goldman to be the creditor. They have lost billions upon billions. If the news is to be believed JPMorgan is most likely taking Applecard on and will most likely apply some narrowing of things. Lots of changes from purges, debt collecting, late fees etc all on the table. Chase has to turn this ship around and to do that it closes many of those paths your talking about.
Got a Applecard myself but 2% or 1% is pretty run of the mill and obtainable elsewhere like Capital One, Amex etc. 3% on Apple goods but Apples stuff is not the 99% of your life. Other then a nice slick looking Titanium Card which they do not want you to use since you get 2% I think from using Apple Pay off your phone its not the most remarkable card out there.
A Amazon store card that can only be used at Amazon or Wholefoods that nets you 5% cash back is actually more usefull then their product. Well at least in my case as I use Amazon for probably 30-40% of what I buy it seems.
Daily Apple Cash, 3% on select retailers, some of which I use regularly (Walgreens among others) is a nice touch also. Also if you finance an Apple Device through the Apple Card, you get the amount of cashback in Apple Cash as if you paid the whole amount, while making payments over time at zero percent for 12-18 months, sometimes as high as 24 months.
And now it looks like Chase is in talks to aquire the Apple Card. So I assume, if and when that happens, you must follow Chases 5/24 rule to apply for.
I just got the chase prime card last month and I was 5/24, so I don't think that is always an issue with cobrand cards.
So they give you hoops to jump through to get the apple card? Who do they think they are? Is there a sub? I got $250 of Amazon stuff with the prime.
Thank you to all your responses. Incredibly helpful. I don't think I really need it anyway. I'll let this one go
The Path to Apple Card program is legit; it’s Goldman Sachs’ way of giving declined applicants a checklist to improve approval odds. If you follow the steps and your credit stays solid; a lot of people do get approved by the target date they give. That said; their suggestions can sometimes be generic or even inaccurate; like telling you to pay off loans you don’t have. Since you’ve got low utilization and no major negatives besides the past Apple Card charge-off; completing their list could work, but there’s no 100% guarantee.
Thank you. These are some good points. Very good information to have. Appreciate it!
