Been trying to nudge towards the garden for a bit now.

Yeah, that's it for me with them (CC wise). I'd really have to be crazy to try again.
I will again one day. At this time I'm in the Garden, so it's not something I'm looking to do, and the card has to make sense for me. I'm past the grab-everything-I've-been-approved-for rebuilding stage and I'm looking to add cards that add some kind of value for me.

I think this is key. I was getting sucked into the app for whatever I could spree too. I ended up canceling most of the cards once I figured out what I wanted to accomplish.

PenFed can be a strange bird. They will deny people with 800 FICOs for Pyramiding debt and then approve someone 2 years post bankruptcy. I honestly think they change approval guidelines from time to time.
If I can pour some salt into your wounds, I will make a joke that PenFed didn't want their card in your signature near BB&T and Verizon and that was the reason for denial.
As Remedios said; you got denied for a very good reason. You have plenty of good cards now and maybe let them age for a while before going for PenFed. Also, I would suggest not closing out your membership with them as they are a decent credit union.
Also, that W in your name...is that the W from Western Federal Credit Union? It drives me nuts every time I see you post because it probably isn't the same W but it looks like it.

>> Nope, created it myself from my YouTube days
I was denied earlier this week and filled out the survey about how disappointed I was. In the meantime I went and applied for the PenFed Cash Rewards Card (denial was on Platinum due to BK DC 2016). Was approved today for $7500!
Thank you for the tip on the survey!
