PenFed - What score do I need?

What score does it take to get a PenFed card? I've been a member for about 6 months with them, but haven't apped for any of their products yet.

Do they ever do soft pull CLI, or do any APR reductions?

You could have apped for a card when you joined. The HP is good for 90 days. A EQ 670 and above is a safe bet when apping for credit with Penfed.

You may find some members that were successful with lower scores.

What about baddies?  Are they a deal breaker?  Tax Lien?

I still have a foreclosure on my EQ report. I have two $14K CC's and a auto loan with Penfed. Sometimes it's better to call in than use the automated system. It will deny at times, where the UW's will approve you once they look at your report.

I was a member (with checking & savings) for 3 months before I was finally approved for the Promise card. 652 EQ score & I have a Ch 7 discharged in 2012. Couldn't get approved for anything else through - like PLOC.

For a PLOC it is a completly different beast.. Gotta have pretty stellar credit I was shot down so fast with them on a PLOC it wasn't funny although I knew I wouldSmiley Happy... CC not an issue.  Granted I had 12 new accounts or whatever in the last year, so can't blame them!

Re: PenFed - What score do I need?

I had several lates with PenFed while they approved me for several CCs, loans, and LOCs.  My first CC cam about 15 months after my last late payment on a mortgage with them and was and still is my highest SL.  Last year, at about 6-1/2 years since last late payment was approved for a motorcycle loan, credit card, and LOC.  YMMV, but I have had great success with them.

Score: EQ(809) EX(819) TU(800)
INQs: EQ(7) EX(16) TU(8)
Last INQ: 13 Jul 23

Total Credit Limit - $2.0M

Re: PenFed - What score do I need?

Keep in mind they use a score called next gen or something like that. Check your account and see what that score is as well.

I was turned down for cc as an Egyptian in Oct but approved instantly online a couple of weeks later for an auto refinance. I had an 23 month old bk at the time. I'm going to try again at 6 or 9 months after my mortgage and some cc consolidation is done.
