Re: Penfed Approvals Please Post Your Data For Others

Has anyone noticed if you can open your PenFed membership online without app'ing for a checking account? I'm hoping to avoid a ChexSystems pull until I get them straightened out.

You just have to open a "share account" - savings, with a minimum of $5. But if Penfed is going to pull a banking report the share account would trigger it.

I joined Penfed in early May. Last week I joined DCU (Digital CU) and they provided me a copy of my ChexSystems report. It shows inquires over the past several years and I see no inquiry from Penfed. Penfed might have soft pulled Chex, but did not HP it. Membership is a HP on EQ.

Last week I was turned down from two CUs due to chex. I opened a DCU membership(successfully) with only savings. I did not receive anything Chex related from DCU. I also have the paper membership form from Unify that indicates they pull Chex only if you open a checking account.

Ah yes, I forgot about the EQ HP. Hopefully I will have made progress on Chex by January.

I'venever had a bank/CU give me their Chex report before. But I froze my Chex in Sept. and they took almost a month to send me a PIN. I didn't know DCU hard pulled Chex and applied for membership on 10/9. They didn't approve me until 10/18 when I notified them I had unfrozen Chex, so maybe that's why the gave me a copy.

Re: Pentagon Federal Credit Union Data Share

I have been conditionally approved upon sending proof of income (I am self employed).  Do you know how I can send what they are requiring? Is it via snail mail or private message or ? Also, some of the "other" income I put was my husband's income. Should I send them a month or two of his pay statements?  He is a new US Permanent Resident this year and has not filed taxes as of yet. I guess I will just send them two years of my taxes and some of his pay stubs and hope for the best! Smiley Happy I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Re: Pentagon Federal Credit Union Data Share

When they asked me for POI for my PLOC, I just scanned the document and emailed it to them.

They work amazingly quick with emails.

I usually send whatever they need through email, then call, then they can check your email addy and pull it right up.

Re: Pentagon Federal Credit Union Data Share

Thanks @total80skid. Do you know what their email address is? Or should I wait until they email me requesting the proof of income? Or just private message them via the website?

Re: Pentagon Federal Credit Union Data Share

@Total80sKid I emailed everything to the info@hq.penfed.org email. Hopefully it will be sufficient. I was honest about my income (low) and put my husband's income in the other box. So I sent 2 years of taxes, 2 months of hubby's pay statement, and my last 7 months of invoices (to show that I am earning more than the previous 2 years). If it's not good enough--well, oh well LOL. (I feel like I am applying for a mortgage, but if all goes well it will be my highest SL --NFCU started me at $18,000.) 🤡 One awesome thing is that when I applied (and was denied) in early August my FICO with PenFed WAS 634 and yesterday it was 709!! Woot woot.

Re: Pentagon Federal Credit Union Data Share

Sorry, not on here much lately and don’t get email notifications.

The address you emailed those documents is the one I have always used.

Good luck! Smiley Happy
