Re: Perfect time for US Bank

Most credit card apps at US Bank go to manual underwriting so the 7-10 is standard. My AR app in branch in 2018, my 5th US Bank card ( only two of the four were open at the time ) also went to manual review.

You mentioned a concern about 5/24, what other Chase cards are on your list?

The $4,500 SUB spend on AR sounds very difficult to meet. I'm just not spending much on cards these days, and I don't know how I could meet a SUB requirement if I were trying to add any of these high AF cards.

You need to be a customer for 6 months before you are able to apply for the PLOC.

USB changes the guidelines and will vary the time line depending on your internal "customer relations score" ... so it can be YMMV.

At the time I was looking at WoH and was 5/24 counting a store card when I applied and picked it up. 6,000 spend requirement but I identified more things to buy. Then I picked up an AMEX Green the next day with a 2,000 spend requirment and so far I've put $4 dollars toward it.

Gave up on the Altitude Reserve because RTR has a $500 minumum on hotel redemptions. I'm trying to take advantage of hotel discounts for a couple night stay and I believe the CSP/CSR is the best way to do that with falling prices. Considering PC to CSR but don't know if its worth it I just am not a fan of swallowing a large annual fee which at the moment is half the monthly spend I'm placing on cards total.

Cash+ I was interested in for the SUB and 5% discount on electronic stores since I'm trying to pick up a computer. That is why I apped for it as part of my total checking package. So far however I do not see any HPs on the 3 credit bureaus over it. I may just call in and cancel the application on it to avoid a HP.

Latest thing I see is the Air Conditioner I want is on sale at Amazon for 15% and if I open a Synchrony store card they'll give me another $100 dollars off which is another 17%. That is too good of a deal to pass up and so may just open it a Synchrony card for it. Its not ideal as far as Amazon cards but I have to be realistic as I'm 5/12 at the moment.

If you wanted to start a relationship with US Bank, there is a monthly maintenance fee for the checking.  However, you don't need a credit product to bypass the fees.  They do have the "Because you've earned it" program.  If your credit score is good enough, you can open and maintain a checking account for free and start the relationship clock while you determine which accounts/cards you want to apply for.

Because you've earned it

I was not giving this option when I applied 12 months ago but I wanted to open a new account and apply for a CC,  My score at the time was 780 and Transunion was pulled. I think the rep knew that the CC would make my checking account for free. I didnt apply for PLOC, think they are a waste of credit

Never understood the reasoning why U.S Bank is admired by people. Their checking and investment accounts are medicore at best compared to what you can get somwhere else. They have a couple of good credit cards and that's really it.

Their top of the line checking advertises 100 free brokerage trades a year. US Bank didn't get the memo that Schwab, Chase, Merill, and Fidelity don't charge for trades anymore. It also advertises no annual fee on a home equity line of credit... You don't pay an annual fee at any good financial institution anyways.

Is there an account that reimburses all ATM fees? Nope.

They're geofenced like crazy even though they're considered a "big bank."

Their technology (app) is horrible.

Sounds like the above average credit cards are a cover up for the medicore checking and investment products offered.

Re: Perfect time for US Bank

It wasn't a PLOC, but I recieved an invitaion for the Reserve Line a couple days ago. And I only just opened a checking about two weeks ago, though i have had 2 CC's with them for longer.

Reserve line is actually a PLOC. I used to have one and it allows you to draw off of it just like a PLOC, it's just got a stupid high interest rate (it was 18.9% at the time IIRC, looks like it's 21.9% now), but I always used it when I needed some quick cash without actually overdrawing my checking first.

Are you outside their footprint? They will deny for that if you don't already have another product with them. If you are approved for the card (and you actually want the checking account), they may let you have it if you call after the card is approved.

If they deny you on both (and you're out of footprint), you can get the checking account like I did ( https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Card-Applications/Path-to-US-Bank-Cash-approval-amp-app-timi... ) to build relationship for another card app later.
