No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
Consering the effort you're putting into the personal card and how long things have been drawn out this is a good sign.
4506 if done online takes about a week for them to send out and get the results back when processing a CLI request.
They don't take 3rd party docs since they can be altered and request directly from the IRS for this reason. It's up to you whether you think it's a privacy issue or not.
I went through the process w/ them because I wanted the CL I have now and didn't want to wait for them to get there through smaller increases over time. Now, if someone's willing to jup to 35K and then incrementally increase by 5K each time to get to say 50K+ then they probably won't run into the request.
You are going to have to weigh how much you don't want to do it vs how much you want an Amex card because you won't be blacklisted......you will just get the same request whenever you apply for any Amex product until you do.
Blacklisted means not being able to get a card.....you still can....they require the T4506.
There is no way around it and it really doesn't matter now how it happened or what triggered it.
As far as the difference in income of 8k from 2018 that will not matter if you truly are making low 6 figures.
Good luck on your decision.
This is just a guess, but another reason why amex could ask for a 4506 t instead of a paystub is not evreyone recieves a w2. There are plenty of people whos income is reported on 1099s.
Thanks. It would make more sense to me if I was requesting a $100k credit limit. All I did was apply for a card and I feel like I'm being audited by a credit card company. I wonder if this is some Amex employee saying "screw that guy for applying three times in two days, let's put him on 'the list.' " I really want the card but I find this annoying and offensive. I will call tomorrow. I called tonight but a recording told me to call during hours of operation, which includes part of tomorrow.
Regarding my references to a paystub, I left out some context: I applied for this card through the CAP program, in other words, via my corporate card account. So, they know (or should know) who my employer is, who issued me a corporate card.

sounds like the company issues a JOINTLY Liable Corp Amex... you are liable for what you charge on the corporate card...and so is the company.
That is why they ask for 4506 probably giving you a hefty spend limit .... my limit was 100K set by the corp and amex... if i needed to go past that it needed to get another corp guarantee only route....
Thanks but this application is for a personal card, via the CAP program, which gives special "welcome offers" to corporate card holders. There's a longer version of the story, but anyway, this is not for the corporate card. I already have the corporate card, and, the bill is paid by my employer. My corporate card does not appear on my credit reports. It's just an entry to the CAP program for the personal card application.
